McClintock is making his fourth campaign for statewide office, having lost the gubernatorial race in 2003 and two previous bids for state controller. First elected to the state Assembly in 1982 at age 26, he served there until 1992 and again from 1996 to 2000. First elected to the state Senate in 2000, term limits will prevent him from seeking another term there in 2008.

Good God! Talk about a guy who can't get off the public teet! I thought California had a 'three strikes and out' law? This will be his fouth loss.

I would rather see him wait and then run for the Senate in 2008. A loss in '06 would be difficult to overcome.

PING!

By the way, there appears to be a McClintock PING list. But, I have no idea who is on it or who started it. So if someone would FReepmail that list to me, I would appreciate it.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if McClintock pulls this off. The California Republican Rennaisance continues!

Watch those typos, at least in the title.

I think the combination of Tom and Arnold (that's weird), would be a very good one. Of course, I'll be gone from California so I DON'T GIVE A DAMN!!!!!!

He is not trust-able any longer and here is a little of why I say that.

First, I used to like him. He took some bold positions and said some unpopular things that needed at times to be said out there.

Then, there was his behavior in the race for governor where he promised Issa he would leave the race rather than become a spoiler if another candidate took off more than him.
Well, he lied.

Arnold had lots more of the vote and McC was willing to split the vote that could have gone against Republicans for Bustamante.

He's not a team player.
He would be willing to sabotage the party to further his own career IMO, and I personally hope the Republican party spends millions against him to see another one runs as the Republican challenger.

I don't trust Tom McClintock. He's too in politics for Tom.
He's scary undependable for the Republican party.

McClintock gave a great speech at the CRA convention in Pomona on Saturday. Got my picture taken with him and all that. :-)

"the rock-ribbed conservative" What is that? Sounds like a condom. And how do they describe Liberals? Moderates.

McClintock tried to derail the ONLY chance the Republicans had at winning the recall election by staying in the race.

I don't "Forget and forgive". No, he didn't succeed at helping Bustamove get elected, but he TRIED. I'll be giving to his opponent. He must be punished for what he tried to do (I believe attempted murder is just as bad a murder).

You tried to screw me, Tom...Now I'm going to screw you!!
