Michelle Malkin: The Wonkette-ization of Laura Bush
Michelle Malkin ^ | May 3, 2005 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 05/03/2005 2:10:11 PM PDT by EveningStar

Most of Mrs. Bush's humor at the correspondents' dinner was just right: Edgy but not over the edge. But I think the stripper and horse jokes were totally beneath her.

Just put it to the other-shoe test: If it were Teresa Heinz Kerry standing up on the dais telling the same jokes, the conservative commentariat would be buzzing for the rest of the year about what a tasteless skank she is.

I might add to your eloquence, that several of us know one another IN PERSON. We're not merely keyboard acquaintances.

The thing that they don't understand is that MOST OF US here at FR didn't agree with them. They seem to think everybody agreed that Bush and Jeb should circumvent the law; they were wrong.

I was a complete supporter of Terry's

But this BS about swooping in and snatching her is a load of crap

FGS .. he flew back to DC to sign the Bill and they claim he didn't do anything to help her???

Can You See Me Rolling My Eyes????

Don't get me wrong. I understand about the amount of time being here.

What I can't stand is the Holier Than Thou crowd who have been here consistantly for a few years who think that they OWN Free Republic and continue to insult those NEW and RETURNING guests to FR simply because they don't agree.

To me it's more about what you have to say than how long you have been here.

I do know that newcomers are often trolls. However, you can tell a troll by more than the date they signed up. I laugh at the ones who will talk to you for an entire thread and then suddenly pull out the you're just a newbie argument. They obviously knew you weren't a troll (Peach knows I'm not as I've encountered his/her/its paranoia often). I've always thought that a lot of true Republicans probably have gotten run off that way. Makes FR look bad. Part of the appeal is the maturity level here as apposed to other places.

Almost to a man, even the most ardent pro lifers abandoned one of their own (the constitution party candidate) for Mr. Bush.

There is no small amount of irony that people who claim to belong to a "constitution" party were the first ones in line demanding that Jeb and/or George should set it aside and act outside their authority.

Identifying the extremists as only Christians isn't accurate. There are many secularists that share the same stage. Militia groups, bigots, etc...

Nor would I give them more than a few percentage points of influence. Certainly they have nowhere near to a clean 1/3rd of the ear of the Party. For the most part they are ignored by everyone except the MSM that loves to stir a certain image of Republicans/Christians to the masses.

Thank you for your Christian attitude in condemning me to hell because you didn't understand my post. You really prove the point.

I told you that some people care here, and that your inability to recognize that and insist it wasn't so was wrong.

It's a fact. Denying it is folly. I went on to say it wasn't always justified.

You are a perfect example of what is wrong with this discussion and this thread.

Would you want to hear those jokes with your family present?

Those wouldn't even be considered jokes in my family so get over it. There's more important things going on today than to worry about White House stand-up comedy routines during an ADULTS ONLY dinner.....

Sheesh, God I envy those folks with so much time on their hands............

That have never been able to elect a national candidate on their own so they want to suck the life out of the GOP. They'd be perfectly happy if the GOP lost to "teach us a lesson."

"Thank you, Miss Gloria Steinem...

Why don't you go and burn a bra? OR a Bible?
"

I agree very much, and history tells us that feminism (and its vulgar nature) is the favorite tool of socialism. Nothing could be further from any stated goals of our RNC. Save the following, Copy and paste.

"Then it will be plain that the first condition for the liberation of the wife is to bring the whole female sex back into public industry, and that this in turn demands the abolition of the monogamous family as the economic unit of society" (Frederick Engels, "Origins of the Family, Private Property, and the State").

Mao's Little Red Book on Women
http://www.paulnoll.com/China/Mao/Mao-31-Women.html

Some of Lenin's words on women
http://www.marx.org/archive/lenin/works/1919/nov/06.htm

The following is from the "Manifesto of the Communist Party" (Karl Marx (1818-1883) and Fredrick Engels)
http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1848/communist-manifesto/ch02.htm

"The bourgeois sees his wife a mere instrument of production. He hears that the instruments of production are to be exploited in common, and, naturally, can come to no other conclusion that the lot of being common to all will likewise fall to the women."

He has not even a suspicion that the real point aimed at is to do away with the status of women as mere instruments of production.

For the rest, nothing is more ridiculous than the virtuous indignation of our bourgeois at the community of women which, they pretend, is to be openly and officially established by the Communists. The Communists have no need to introduce free love; it has existed almost from time immemorial."

“Everyone who knows anything of history also knows that great social revolutions are impossible without the feminine ferment. Social progress may be measured precisely by the social position of the fair sex (plain ones included)” (Karl Marx Letter to Ludwig Kugelmann, MECW, Volume 43, p. 184, http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1868/letters/68_12_12.htm)

Sorry, (I've been saying that a lot tonight, darn you Peach!) if I offended you. I've just been attacked all night and was still in fight mode.

Please read post 464 if you havn't already.

I for one am all for "spirited" debate and even getting a little roudy. It doens't mean I hate anyone or can't be swayed by anothers arguement.

In reality, even though I have been coming here for years I still have a lot to learn.

Again, please accept my appolgy.

LOL!

I enjoyed the First Lady's speech; including the parts objected to by some. My kids would have laughed too. BUT! I look back.. and I remember when my kids were little, like Michelle Malkins kids' ages; I might not have enjoyed the speech as much; especially in light of little ones' ages. My kids are older. They would not have seen any part of her presentation as "not classy" or funny.

Throwing in a point here, that I think needs consideration....
