Well, you can all relax. While ROTS isn't a masterpiece, it's pretty darn good.
I managed to slip into a preview showing earlier today and had a thoroughly good time. Yes, it's pretty grim in places. Yet if anything, I'd say it wasn't grim enough.
The opening battle will have your jaw hitting the floor. Wall-to-wall butt-kicking on a cosmic scale. And the betrayal of the Jedi...well, it really, really hurts. Even when you know it's coming, it hurts.
Oh, yes. This one's a keeper.
Well, by now, these 20-odd years hence, is it not time for a RE-MAKE of the first episodes?
Yes! I mean, No! Maybe.
man, this thread is geek city
j/k....sarcasm, and such.
Right after seeing the HHGG film, I rushed out and bought the TV version on dvd to refresh myself with the "real thing" again. The movie and the TV version both have good and bad parts. In the film, Stephen Fry did well as the Book, and John Malkovich's character was soooooo creepy. Slartibartfast's tour of the "factory floor" was beautiful.
Jar Jar was stuck on the prison moon of Despayre when the first Death Star (built there) blew it up while Wesly Crusher was strapped on a Sun Crusher quantum resonance torpedo during a comparitive test with the competing Tri-lithium torpedo...
Thanks! Can't wait to see it.
There are two classes of Star Destroyers that can land, all sharing the traditional wedge shape. The Acclamator class was the one in Episode II and III. The Victory class was larger and disticted by its atmospheric control surfaces on its sides. Images of each ship (including the Carrack and Dreadnaught):
Acclamator class
Dreadnaught class Heavy Cruiser
Carrack class Light Cruiser
Yup. One of Gandalf's spells blew up and killed him.
In other words, Lucas screwed this one up too!
ROTS? ROTJ?
ROTK back at ya!
If you recall, when Obi-wan went to Kamino in Ep. 2, there was mention of a Master Sifu-dias (sp?) who the Kaminoans believed Obi-wan represented in order to inspect clone army production. Is there any clarification on who this Sifu-dias character might be in Ep 3?
Cable + WinTV capture card + 36" TV + DVD player = no need to give more money to Hollyweird.
Screw 'em.
Amen to that!
Sorry for the post.
I did not realize that this thread wasn't for mature adults.
Oh, yes. If only Jar Jar is killed, I know that the audiences would cheer. I would pay extra just to see that and make it as grim as possible.
I'm with you. I kept waiting for the price to drop far enough for "AOTC" to overcome the bad taste left from "Phantom Menace." When it exited the dollar theaters and I still hadn't seen it, I knew my interest in "Star Wars" had finally been snuffed by Lucas' obsession with software over good filmmaking. I finally checked out a video of "AOTC" from the library and fast-forwarded through probably half the running time to skip past wooden acting, clunky dialogue, or endless, repetitive scenes of fake-looking, CGI cartoon battles. Lucas apparently thinks that if two guys having a sword fight is exciting, 1,000 guys doing it at once is 1,000 times more exciting. Nope, just scattered, confusing and boring. But with enough judicious editing, "AOTC" might make a fairly good 15-minute short.
Flame away, don't care.
You won't get a flame from me...it really was that bad. Even on cable, it was unwatchable -- I got halfway through it before I went to trying to fix my inkjet printer, so getting ink all over me instead of watching AOTC should give you a good idea of how I feel about it. I didn't record it then, and I don't ever intend to. It would be a waste of a perfectly good blank DVD.
