Well, while we are having a recess I need to go outside. The mowers are here and they have been cutting down some of my daisies, so I need to quickly put some stakes up so they don't get carried away again.

Back in a bit!

Teddy is gone and when I listen to this Baucus guy all I hear is "Blah Blah Blah Blah".

Perhaps their just being concerned about our health- Teddy gets your blood boiling, and Baucus brings it back down (before putting you to sleep).

They aren't voting. They have an hour recess before they pick up the debate.

The Dems have made a TERRIBLE mistake. Obstruction was one thing but those judges are Hubs of Pride in communities and are attached to spokes and that means people and votes. They blew it!!

and now Sessions is on the Judiciary committee with Specter. Meanwhile, Specter (behind the scenes) continues to stall/delay while another Alabama judge is nominated, Billy Pryor. Some things never change.

Didn't Baucus' wife curse and pitch a fit at some garden center over compost (I think) for crying out loud. She was NOT prosecuted, however, because hubby in effect pulled a Kerry (Do You Know Who I Am?). Only the "little people" are charged, you know.

One-hour recess. Just want to thank everyone here today, you've been wonderful as sounding-boards, venting releases, and - most importantly - extreme humor! Thank goodness for FR.

You are so right! Just because some lunatic in DC says these people are "evil" doesn't mean that anyone else believes them. They think people in flyover country are stupid. Surprise, surprise. They are the stupid ones. That's why they are the MINORITY PARTY and are going to keep losing elections because of crap like what they are trying to pull. BIG MISTAKE!

when I look back to see that ruth bader ginsburg was approved 96-3, I don't worry that a future republican minority is going to lose the ability to fillibuster judges - they wouldn't use it anyway.

But see, that's the point. Most all judicial nominees were easily approved unless there were actual mitigating circumstances. Ideological leanings weren't considered (Bork excepted) until Clarence Thomas.

It was believed that most judges, ideology aside, would rule by law, and not write it. Even after Thomas, the Pubs still played by the old rules, (Ginsburg). Chuck Schumer let the cat out of the bag in 2001 when he stated that ideology would be considered. And here we are.
