Just eight days after John Bolton's recess appointment as U.N. Ambassador, the world body's credibility took a nosedive as corruption charges were leveled against top officials involved in the $64 billion Iraq oil-for-food scandal.
With one arrest yesterday and more expected shortly, experts naturally noted the connection between the arrival of the gruff American diplomat and the crisis at the United Nations.
"We warned President Bush against picking Bolton," said one Senate Democrat, "and now look what's happened -- criminal allegations in the world's most credible organization."
A spokesman for Ambassador Bolton refused comment on the oil-for-food scandal, but noted that the charges against two former U.N. officials stem from activities that happened several years ago.
The unnamed Senator, however, said Mr. Bolton's attempt to duck the issue will not shield him from scrutiny, nor prevent the Democrat party from running political ads tying the demise of U.N. credibility to his arrival.

Who is this Senate Democrat? The UN is a corrupt cesspool - what world is this guy living in?

It truly has become an Alice In Wonderland world.

Let's see if they can find anything lamer - more lame - than this. Reminds me of the limbo hop game from the seventies.

Yeah, what do you want to bet that if the pidgeons start singing that some leading dems would be named as having taken part in the scam.

THESE UNITED NATIONS
Hah, what did you say, b----? You run your mouth some more and it's gonna win you a race to the grave. |
KRANG! You hear that? That's the gong of change I'm ringing and it's reverberating through these musty halls with the force of ten typhoons and a hundred hurricanes. The minute you turn me loose in this place I am going to hit like an earthquake measuring ten on the Bolton scale. Do you know the Bolton scale? That's like 5 times worse than the Richter scale. I am going to start off with Kofi. I am going to slap that b---- so hard on his face that the representative from Madagascar is going to feel it. He'll be offering oil for f------ bandages and ice packs and s---. People back at the WH (that's WHITE HOUSE for you ingrates) call me The 'Stache and this blinding white mustache is going to launch a thousand flying elbows off the turnbuckle. I am going to climb up into the balcony and come crashing down on Burkina Faso's translator like a man-shaped sack of bricks. You smell that Omar Ventissi? That's your a-- getting COOKED North Carolina Barbecue style...

This has got to be a Free Republic record for people falling for a Scappleface article. Can't blame people, though. It's just so darn realistic.

"I do!" So do I, airborne. I don't want to be a stick-in-the-mud, mad-at-everything like them stupid lieburrals. Sometimes I wonder just how much difference there is between some of us and some of them. I don't want to be like that.
