Liberals Hate God
Human Events Online ^ | September 1, 2005 | Nathan Tabor

I recently wrote about the fact that Liberals don’t really hate war, but they demonstrably do hate freedom — and America, too. The numerous responses I got to that intentionally provocative topic were quite interesting, to say the least. Predictably, most Conservatives seemed to love the concept.

Meanwhile, most Liberals really “hated” it. Funny how intolerant these Left-wing, progressive, sometimes-defenders of the virtue of universal “tolerance” can be when it’s their own ox getting gored. I truly think some of these Woodstock Nation peaceniks might get a little violent if provoked.

So then I got to thinking, “What else do Liberals hate?” The logical answer to that question is: Liberals hate God, too.

I reasoned that if you love something (or someone), you usually want to keep it around, preserve and protect it, even nurture it and watch it grow strong and flourish. If, on the other hand, you hate something, you generally want to . . .

...and, like all God-haters, you write all that without the slightest hint of self-awareness, don't you? You really don't admit that you've just put a huge "QED" over the whole proposition?

Your a perfect example of what I'm talking about - ignorant, self-righteous, intolerant.

The guys who invented the Republic were part of the Enlightenment - a reaction to the centuries of corruption in the Catholic church which led to the Reformation and subsequent horrific religious wars. Perhaps you think they didn't notice?

What is the logic in this? That is like saying killing a 1 year old is not murder but killing a child that is 1 year and 6 months is murder.

No its not. The world is more complex than you acknowledge. A 16 cell fetus is very, very different than an 8 month old fetus. The situation is not at all comparable to your example.

So describe in your own words what the founding Fathers practiced in terms of their religious beliefs?

First, a fetus is a fetus. Second, I would be willing to bet there are ZERO abortions performed at the 16 cell stage. Most women do not know they are pregnant until about 6 weeks at which time the fetus has a beating heart. Most abortions happen AFTER the heart is beating.

So I guess that all religious teaching is mumbo jumbo and that the true way to advance society is to throw it all away and do whatever the heck we want to. If it feels good do it, right? Let's have fornication in the street, because the bible says not to commit adultry. If you see something you want, take it. The ten commandments say not to steel, so it must be ok to do in your society. Someone pisses you off, shoot him, right. "Thou shalt not kill", is no longer a valid guideline. With God in our lives, we live within a certain moral arena. We search our concience before we act. We ask ourselves if our actions will cause distress to another. We also know that God looks down with favor on those who offer kindness and relief to a fellow human being, so it's beneficial to us to treat each other with kindness and respect, without expecting anything in return. I guess we should all start hating each other, because God wants the opposite, in your world. I'm sorry you don't have God in your life, you don't know what your missing. I'm not a bible thumper by any means, and I rarely go to church, but everyday, I do my best to live by rules he layed down. I've got a great life, a great family, nice stuff and never want for anything. Maybe I just got lucky? Or maybe someone's looking after me.

First, it's pretty hard to hate 'something' you don't believe even exists.

I don't and I never said I did. Read my post again.

Second, keep in mind that a basic belief of liberals is that life is SUPPOSED to be easy

It is? I never heard that. But I was brought up in the '40s. Perhaps the world has changed far more than I'd imagined.

Liberals HATE the IDEA that their fellow man (make that 'people') could 'fall for' a concept of a loveing God who LETS bad things happen

True. But the problem is not just a liberal problem. See Job.

They didn't speak with one mind, or one religion, or lack of. Many were Deists. But they all were trying to avoid the old world wars of religion.

Second, I would be willing to bet there are ZERO abortions performed at the 16 cell stage.

Then why the opposition to MAPs?

Abortions are a primitive and barbaric method of birth-control. If the issue was truly abortion then pro-life forces would be encouraging every more humane option. But they're not. On the contrary they're trying to shut down all contraceptive efforts except abstinance.

There are many ways to live one's life. Not just the simple black and white you've presented. What's important in a society are basic civility and access to education - What Rudy Giuliani insisted on imposing in the Big Apple. Outside of that tolerance should rule.

You were once a 16-cell fetus. Are you glad that your parents did not "choose" to abort that fetus? (simple yes/no question, not looking for a master's thesis)

"Ever seen a crevo thread?"

Thank you for the suggestion. I just visited

I don't want to get into the middle of the issues revolving around creation verses evolution.

There are stubborn folks on both sides of that issue and intolerance as well. My issues revolve around the Bill of Rights. I don't want anyone taking my guns, house or freedom of association away. Other than that,'live and let live'

Define basic civility. What motivates a human being to inconvenience himself and go out of his way to help another? Why would anyone want to drop $25 of hard earned money in the mail to a charity. When and why would we as a race decide that we must be a civil society? Why did we decide that survival of the fittest was an obsolete philosophy? Why do we take care of our old long after they've stopped being productive members of society? Why are we a compassionate nation? It's because of God and church that our laws and motivations are formed as they are.

Define basic civility

Giuliani did it far better than I could...and in a practical way, which is the only way that counts.

It's because of God and church that our laws and motivations are formed as they are.

Please. Compassion and decency are not the unique province of Christians or Americans.

Liberals don't hate America. Sometimes on FR i think everyone takes this kind of propaganda too seriously. Let's focus on the issues.
