I voted for Bush 2x...But he is doing a horrible job at least on the PR side of this. Where the hell is the Navy and the rest of the relief. I have been reading for over a day they are on there way. What is taking so long? We have invaded countries quicker..

I remember he was on the ball two days before had ordered emerg. crews, etc. to be put in place. Then, it seemed to all fall apart. I am not sure where the blame lies...but certainly things were in place for emergency care ... tents, etc. for the tsunami victims much faster than things have been done in NO and other Gulf areas. I remember the pictures of those "tent cities" errected in two days. Can't figure out why that has not been done yet.

Katrina wiped out the worm hole they were using.

They are waiting to be invited in by the NO mayor. You cannot send troops in to enforce public order without a declaration of martial law. (Federal power is limited by the Posse Comititus act.) The mayor only did that this morning.

Further, Federal resources are expected to coordinate with state and municipal authorities -- who are running around panicking. The mayor will not turn over the situation to Federal authorities, but at the same time will not take charge of the effort.

At this point, however, it may be time to push both the governor and mayor aside. Declare the area as in a state of insurrection and simply make it a federal responsibility. But to do that you have to virtually replace the local government. Kinda like what was done in the Civil War.

Well, until we figure out how to transport a ship 1000 miles or so instantaneously, it will take a few days for the ships to get there.

The media has covered all that, but you do have to pay attention. One set of ships should be there this weekend. The hospital ship goes more slowly, and is being loaded with supplies. It's going to leave tomorrow, and will be there sometimes next week.

How do you suppose they could get there any faster?

I do not care that the Governor is a democrat, nor care if the mayor is, but they are failing to protect their citizens, the volunteers, and the federal relief workers. They must provide the leadership to gain control of the situation. The military cannot go in there shooting at US citizens.

This lack of leadership may also have an impact the next time a major hurricane threatens the US and evacuation orders are given. Will people be more, or less, inclined to stay in order to protect their property since the state obviously cannot.

The President is doing all it can given the limited resources and manpower and I don't blame him. Our resources and manpower are stretched thin as they're busy in Iraq right now, watching, I'm sure, this tragedy developing. Some have families in Lousiania, Alabama and Mississippi and can't wait to receive their orders to get back in the States and help their people. It's a matter of time, but they will eventually soon get here to help our own. Had it not been for the Iraq war these troops and the National guard would have been ready to intervene within hours. But priorities must take precedence.

You obviously have more time to whine than you do to help. Think of all the assistance you could have given in just the time it took you type and post your silly whine.

The Libs always starts out lying that they "voted for Bush" or "have been a Republican all their lives BUT..."

Somehow I don't think you have your facts straight and even might be a plant here. I'll wait and see.
