And I may add again that they are showing who they truly are. If we stand up and fight this like old America used to, they cant win. The more we take from them, the more they keep raising the bar.

The only sheep are the ones that continue to blame the Bush administration and ignore the failing of the local/state government in this disaster. Unlike DU, FreeRepublic encourages opinions from others - not just republicans or conservatives. Go back to your little hole Mr. Troll and take your horse with you.

I can't necessarily rebuke this w/facts, but I will say it's silly. Along the same lines of getting uppity about "foreigners" not caring I wrote the other day.....

I'm really not about sniping back flippantly at those who really have no interest in our situations. I simply don't expect them to. So I am not really offended if they don't "help".

As an insider, I have a few remarks to whiney A$$hole Brits like yourself, when you dare to criticize our military and our government based on liberal news.

1. My ancestors didn't kill enough Brits in our Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. If they had killed more, maybe you wouldn't be around.

You want to kill British people! mmm...

2. My Dad, his friends kept the Germans from invading Britain in WWI. Later my uncles and older cousins saved your sorry whining a$$es in WWII with their bodies and blood. My parents, grandparents and non service people paid a lot of money to keep England afloat which we were never paid back during WWII.

Totally historically laughable. In WW1 Germany could not have invaded Britain. It was a deadlock in Belgium that new American numbers rushed forward the inevitable. In WW2 America joined the war after Germany gave up trying to invade Britain. In fact Germany had less than ten amphibious troop carriers so couldn't have invaded anyway. Read a book.

3. Our constitution prevents our military from carrying out military activities like you are asking for. That is the responsibility of the La. National Guard. The person who is responsible for ordering riot control and shooting of looters is the governor. The governor is a left wing Politically Correct Governor, and she will not order this response. President Bush can't order that response by our constitution.

Whoever is at fault is irrelevant, but someone is...

4. Our constitution came about after we won the revolutionary war. A war which was started by your STD insane King George. Our founding fathers made sure that Brit law which allowed the uncontrolled use of National Military forces in the home country would never be used in America.

I don't see British troops running about shooting British Citizens, do you? As for "who" won the war, do you not know most of "Americans" at that time though of themselves as "British Americans". It was not that America was a nation under occupation. It was that Britain created a colony of it's own people that thankfully thrived. So without whiny Brits you wouldn't be here! ;)

Last but not least, many of those so called cowards in the La National Guard have served honorably in tours in Iraq. They weren't cowards then, nor are they cowards now.

Show me where I called American cowards?

So the personal costs would be lower if they have no place to go at all?

Come on, these people need help and the great northern cities have facilities. Use those, too.

Or do you just not want the victims "in your back yard?"

you have no idea how PC this country has become and how that hog ties the police..... you have no idea how the race card is being played by the left, the media and the Al Sharptons of this country......you have no idea of how the liberals are politicizing this tragedy and hoping to gain from it....you have no idea of how our welfare state has taught people learned helplessness and class envy

all of these things are coming to a head right now and acting as fuel for the fire....therefore; it IS a problem when people believe the media nonsense and spout it as truth. as the title says: Now is the Time to Shut Up.

So it's silly?.....

I don't appreciate the "woulda, coulda, shoulda" attitude from anyone....Go back and read the original article of this thread....If you are not going to be part of the solution, shut up!

In the last three days, I have filled up the gas tank of a family from Louisiana trying to get to relatives in Kansas....I have bought a meal for another family passing though my community....This morning my wife took groceries to a local church that last night welcomed 320 evacuees into our town, which is more than seven hours away from New Orleans.

I am not here beating my chest and saying look how great I am.....I am doing what I can to make the situation better.....What my God leads me to do!!!!

I frankly don't give a rat's butt what you, our British friend, or any Freeper thinks.....Actions speaks louder than words......Now is the time for action!

No the cliche is that America "liberated" Britain. This is quite clearly factually untrue

Ever heard of "Lend- Lease"?

Was it ever paid for? Were the personal firearms, donated by AMERICAN citizens' ever returned?

I have always admired the courage of the British facing the German juggernaut alone, but rest assured, without the aid supplied by AMERICANS, the outcome would have been different.

Now is not the time to get into a pissing contest with these fools. Get the job done. When the time comes much will have to be said and fingers pointed. Starting with the condition of urban areas after decades of democratic political dominance and it's (non)effect on lifting people up out of poverty and teaching self-respect and responsibility instead of wasting time/energy preaching racial hate.

Not to sound like Jesse Jackson but... "people need education not reparation" or "educate, not misappropriate"

Yes, and this is the point. It is not a case of "your country is bigger than my country" scholl bully stuff. American Citizens are needlessly dying because the rescue effort is atrocious. For the most powerful country in the world to be able to send doctors and medicine to Indonesia within a few days of the tsunami but not to the Superdome in New Orleans in five is astonishing. Someone is to blame for that, and to face up to that may be painful to Americans, but it will save lives. Burying your head in the sand will not.

Just a quick thought... It WAS the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT that sent the aid to the Tsunami ravaged countries. That's the thing, in this case, the Federal Government isn't in charge of the relief efforts. At least they weren't until the lame-a$$ governor of LA realized she didn't know how to run her state. Definitely not Bush's fault, he didn't appoint her, she was elected by the same criminal element that is destroying the city right now.

Oh, and as far as your criticism of our troops goes... we don't care what you think. Really, we don't.

Don't try to paint me as some heartless ass. You know nothing about me.

No place? There are plenty places they can go I'm sure that are closer to their homes. This entire country is huge, and so is the close-in region.

If anything we should try to shelter them as close to their homes as possible. I would think the advantages overall to the vast majority of them would be intuitively obvious. (Hey, it even includes the possibility they are kept closer to their family relations in the region - who might even claim them and house them!)

So maybe start w/big venues in the region; that could indeed include setting up camp in large open areas such as "open space" parks, farms, etc. Then it might include foster homes from private citizens.

Then branch it out from there a bit at a time, using the same procession, trying to minimize the radius and keep from being too far out from their native home and relatives.

Listen, I don't know just what the best answer is. I'm just thinking along these lines that might be best logistically for every1 - and it has NOTHING TO DO WITH *NIMBY*!

Local Dems often think of local government as just an appendage of the central planning board in DC. Local Dems are in the habit of doing what the Feds fund/bribe them to do.

That is also why they are bent out of shape by a Bush administration. They now have to take orders from Bush. They lack the concept of local sovereignty.

You were making a flippant remark about "what are the Brits doing".

It's nice how you're helping out, but that (and that you're not bragging) has nothing to do w/flipping off at foreigners outside our borders about not helping. That's a bad attitude toward people who frankly have the right not to care much about what's happening because it's not in their interests (just as we're not rushing to go save all the 3rd-world people all over the world from their ruthless gov's and dictators), and invariably it is far removed besides. It's just not practical.

And frankly, who cares what they think or do? We can take care of ourselves and don't need them. 1 should never EXPECT from such; it's unfair.

"They lack the concept of local sovereignty."

They lack the concept of self-reliance (far less selfish than the hand-outs they promulgate). They believe in dependency, that every1 is a helpless child; that is what their beloved welfare crap is all about, and that's the mentality they ALL have, whether they're on or off welfare. And they're reaping what they sow.

He can whitewash what he said all he wants to.

He called our National Guard men cowards.

Defend him if you want to. I don't want/need allies who stab us in the back in time of crisis.

Many of our National Guard warriors have recently served many tours in Iraq and served honorably. His comments slurred these brave warriors.

If he wants to place blame, put it on the La Guard Commander, the left wing lunatic B$tch governor of La.. Until she orders "Shoot to Kill Looters", the guard has no orders to do so.

"They lack the concept of self-reliance (far less selfish than the hand-outs they promulgate)."

Just wanted to make sure the point got across that you are criticizing the local democratic government and not the people afflicted by this catastaphe. Although this attitude needs to be looked at and taken care of (in most EVERY household in America when it comes to disaster preparedness) - I think for now the title of this thread should apply.
