What time did the 17th St. Canal Levee Breach Occur?
Question | 09/03/2005 | Self

Posted on 09/03/2005 6:27:56 AM PDT by F105-D ThunderChief

It's my understanding that the 17th St. canal levee breach occurred on Tuesday, August 30, 2005. Does anyone know the exact time? The Communist News Network aka (CNN) has embarked on the largest "Bush Bashing" campaign that I have seen to date. Once again rhetoric takes precedence over facts!

That levee was breeched with the winds as the eyewall passed east of the lake.

Fox has not exactly been a shinning star of excellence.

Whorealdo claimed Monday morning in the pouring rain in the midst of the French Quarter that NO had missed the bullet. Stupid silly man. He did manage to high tail his sorry behind back to New York asap, then showed back up and totally lost track of time, claiming people had been held for 6 days, 6 days at the convention center, which is a physical impossibility since the flooding did not start until late Monday.

I have been at work all week, and missed some of the facts. It appears then that the levee breach was known about on Monday?

They were there a day or two before the flooding to ride out the storm.

You got that right. So far the media as a WHOLE has been as much a disaster as the hurricane.

It make me sick that these reporters who are finding themselves food, water, and a place to place their heads, are NOT themselves helping to do the same for all these suffering people.

You are correct, he was saying before the hurricane ever hit that NO most likely dodge the bullet.

Talk about grandstanding freaks. Amazing how in a place of utter destruction the reporter class appears so pristine.

Thanks! It appears there is a momentous effort by the liberal media to find the local LA and New Orleans democRats without fault!

Whorealdo...

One of my funniest recollections of this man was when he was reporting from Afghanistan, deep in the field. There he was, lights on him with US soldiers in a wide circle at the edge of the darkness surrounding him, facing outwards.

"My Military friends here tell me that they would not normally allow the lights to be on at night, but for me they made an exception" he beams proudly.

In unison, silently, the troops are whispering to the Afghan warriors on the surrounding ridges..."Shoot...shoot now!!!"

I saw CNN's Anderson Cooper ranting and raving at President Bush and Senator Lott! The Facts are:

President Bush declared the states of emergency before hurricane Katrina even made landfall! Now he is responsible for the disaster because the citizens didn't evacuate as ordered?

That's because they weren't listening to the people that warned that if the storm was to the east of NO that it could cause catastrophic damage to the levee system and massive flooding. I heard that on Sunday. The hurricane hit on Monday morning. The French quarter was pretty much dry right after the storm. So when did it break? It had to be sometime Monday evening or during the night.

I heard about that one. We cannot expect the liberal class to ever take responsibility for what their system of governance has created.

We can however, possibly show these people that we conservatives are NOT their enemy. They are no longer walled in, shielded from what they can be, free individuals.

We conservatives need not recoil at the poison of the liberal accusers, rather reach around the broken wall and say here is how you can help yourself.

It happend the night the hurricane came through. Flooding takes time.

What happend was that the winds from the north raised the level of the lake erroded the levee and made it break.

This has always been the scenerio that people talked about beyond the Cat 5 Direct hit that pushed storm surge up the Mississipi river.

I'm hoping to discover the exact time to make my own evaluation of the disaster relief response. Specifically what was the timeline between the breach and the flooding. Was there even an alternative to evacuation. I am amazed by the sheer number of people who stayed behind!

Does the media bear any responsibility for the people staying as they stated Katrina will not hit New Orleans directly?

Hopefully at some point there will be a complete timeline published of the events so that the facts will be available rather than just speculations.
