From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

Seems the Triangle Fraternity frat house had been asked by the dean of students to provide a "safe house" for Pakistani students until the 9-11 "stuff" blew over. Unfortunately, as most of you have found out, the Triangle Fraternity website is now taken down, except for the front page statement about Hinrichs. I couldn't follow whatever happened next and was too tired to try the Wayback Machine. Since Hinrichs didn't come to campus until 2002, I didn't think I would find much, but maybe someone wants to try the follow-up.

Nice work.

what time did that bomb go off Saturday? Anyone know exactly? Here is an interesting link to the Norman Mosque prayer times for the month of September (for what it's worth)

set out some Roach Motels.

Unfortunately, waiting for the other shoe to drop may result in someone having to scrape a number of pretty little Oklahoma girls off the fifty yard line.

A survey of articles in my file:

."shortly before 8PM"
."about 8 PM"
."around 8 PM"
."shortly after 7:30PM"
."about 7:30 PM"
."around 7:30 PM"

They were evenly divided between the 7:30s and 8s. Must have been 7:45PM! I guess nobody's clocks or watches stopped with the explosion!

from the first report from Oklahoma:

"Sgt. Gary Robinson of the OU Police Department confirmed there had been one fatality after an explosion that occurred about 7:20 p.m. during the second quarter of the OU-Kansas State football game."

check out the evening prayer time in my other link (wink)

Thanks for doing those reverse searches. I was going to try that, but I'm not as good at it as you are.

UPDATE regarding info in post #3750

NEWS ARTICLE EDITED @ CFRA RE: REPORT OF 5 INJURED

I just got an email back from Steve Winogron the news editor at CFRA. He states original information was gathered by his "overnighter" from usaradio.com. He stated it is usual policy to source this information and in this case due to shift changes it was overlooked. I have no reason to believe from his email that he is trying to cover anything up - seems to be a nice guy as far as I can tell. (o:

I am unable to find any coverage on usaradio.com of this event. I have googled hoping for a cache page, but it seems it's not indexed, and there are no results for this source in Google NEWS. I will post more information about this later, but I wanted to make sure everyone knew I got a reply which I didn't expect! (o:

I will be writing up a rather large summary with links and such later tonight so that those coming in late can catch up quickly...

My pleasure Palladin... I think it's too important to ignore. I'd like my children to grow up in safety and peace - it's them I'm thinking of ultimately and it's well worth the time. (o:

Thanks--I knew I had seen one earlier report, like the 7:20PM one. I guess I hadn't copied that one.

I've been doing a lot of it, but have lost some of the better engines for it, as they've all gone to "paid" and I won't/can't justify paying for them.

I really miss the commercial one, because it listed every single address on a street, no matter what is there, even with office numbers within office buildings. *sigh*
