LOS ANGELES - Although they were born on different planets, Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage's new son and Superman have something in common - both were named Kal-el.
Alice Kim Cage gave birth Monday to Kal-el Coppola Cage in New York City, said the actor's Los Angeles-based publicist, Annett Wolf. No other details were available, the spokeswoman said.
I heard this and thougth he named the kid 'Luke' and was named Luke Cage the marvel hero. Nick changed his professional name to Cage in honor of that superhero. I can't believe he named him Kal-el, course Bruce Willis named his kids Rumor and Scout.
Its a Bizarro World
Latin? You must mean Hebrew or such. Which I'm betting is related to Arabic type languages (al-el, bin-ben).
I personally know of children named Zena, Granite, Tiger and Cubby. < rolling eyes > I don't know what people are thinking.
Coppola is Nicolas Cage's actual surname. He is Francis Ford Coppola's nephew. Thus, the middle name.
Well, you [and the rest of us] should be grateful to and for this idiot. It is his [and others'] idiocy which makes all of us look great and smart - even geniuses on occasion. Do not forget, everything is relative, and he provides a good and convenient [for us] reference point.
Jerry Seinfeld is probably cheezed off that he didn't think of this first for his kid....
Why couldn't he just name the kid Clark Kent Coppola.
Just google image search "ZOD"
Sorry Moon unit is taken.
Rumor? Scout is bad enough, but Rumor?
I think the winner of the name game though is a RevWar hero (I believe it was our own local Mordecai Gist, but it may have been John Eager Howard; I can't recall which, just the sons' 1st names):
Statesrights & Independence.
Maybe the Next kid will be named Bruce Wayne Cage.
In my profession, I've come across children named Placenta and Quasimodo (both girls) and Playa (boy). The boy was named an ebonics form of "Player" rather than the Spanish word for beach. Horrible.
Wow! I was wondering about that when I saw "Coppola" - thought maybe the woman was a Coppola!
And what was his pa's name--Jor-El?
Which leads to the question, if Clark made his costume out of the swaddling clothes in his space capsule, and it was indestructible, how did he cut and stitch it?
There will be a meeting of DC Comix Nurds in the backroom of Best Buy to discuss this issue during lunch. Bring your 'Lunchables' and wet-dry tissues.
It could have been worse. He could have named him Lana Lang.
States Rights Gist was an excellent general.
Bruce Willis' oldest is named Rumer (not Rumor), after the British author Rumer Godden. Not a name I'd choose, but it's not like he made it up. I came close to naming my oldest daughter Lee Atwater.
And you do know that Nicolas paid his dues to get into hollywood, right? ;)
LOL. I saw a reference to this yesterday and thought it was a joke.
