Fired CBSer Cries Foul (Mary Mapes: names FreeRepublic.com as "the birth of political jihad")
NY Post ^ | 10/5/5 | Adam Buckman

October 5, 2005 -- THE producer at the center of last year's "Memogate" scandal at CBS News says she was derailed by a vast right-wing conspiracy.

The producer, Mary Mapes, is one of four CBS staffers fired last January in the wake of the scandal.

She is convinced she was the victim of a group of loosely associated Internet bloggers "with a harsh political bent" who pounced on CBS News minutes after the airing of the now-infamous Texas Air National Guard story on "60 Minutes 2" in September 2004...

"Within a few minutes, I was online visiting Websites I had never heard of before: Free Republic, Little Green Footballs, Power Line," writes Mapes...

"They were hard-core, politically angry, hyperconservative sites loaded with vitriol about Dan Rather and CBS."

"This was something else, something new and fundamentally frightening," Mapes writes. "I had never seen this kind of response to any story.

"It dawned on me that I was present at the birth of a political jihad."

"It dawned on me that I was present at the birth of a political jihad."

If this only dawned on Mapes last year, then she is more incompetent than I had ever imagined.

"This was something else, something new and fundamentally frightening," Mapes writes. "I had never seen this kind of response to any story. - It was "frightening" because she was being found out - "It dawned on me that I was present at the birth of a political jihad." - more like a political awakening for the country - FREAKIN IDIOT!!

Can you imagine how powerless we would have been without the internet? The internet has made a very big difference in our (the average person) ability to be a part of the political process. The democrats know this, and that is why they would love to shut us down if they ever get back in power.

It must be frightening when you've lied for so many years and always thought your lies were invisible, only to look in the mirror one day and see millions of Freepers staring back at you and they're all saying: GOTCHA!!.

It just indicates how stuck in an isolated "world" was Mary Mapes. That she had no clue ? And she had such a hefty spot on the MSM trackwheel? Oh boy... this article really condemns the MSM.

It is amazing how these elitists are shocked that everyone does not agree with their liberal viewpoints.

She must wonder how Republicans get elected - when no one she knows would vote for one...

If she never heard of Free Republic, she has no curiosity to get online and read the news from all angles. What kind of reporter has no curiosity? A LAZY and BIASED reporter....

That was my first reaction as well. It is kind of cool to be part of a "vast conspiracy".

...bloggers "with a harsh political bent"...

Ms. Mapes is instrumental in using forged documents to injure the President and help John F'in Kerry and she says that the people who exposed her have a harsh political bent? Liberalism is a mental disease.

" was online visiting Websites I had never heard of before: Free Republic, Little Green Footballs, Power Line,"

Well, that also means she has never heard of Democratic Underground, or Daily Kos, or a whole host of lefty web sites which make regular disparaging remarks [understandable from their viewpoint] against Freepers and Free Republic.

In other words, she admits to knowing next to nothing about the "blogosphere".

That aside, her position that she is a "victim" is absolutely bankrupt.

This aside, the facts speak for themselves:

A sharp guy notices, almost instantly, that barring some freak set of circumstances whose occurence would have been practically impossible, and probably theoretically impossible, that the "document" could have been produced in 1972, the time it was claimed to have been produced, by anyone, short of hiring a print shop to have it typeset, but could have been produced within the past few years using Microsoft "Word" on the default settings, by ANYONE, with the exact same line breaks, indents, and all aspects of the document identical.

This sets off a huge uproar, and desparate, but ultimately fruitless, attempts to show how the document MIGHT have been created back in 1972. While these attempts focused on one or two aspects of the document said to show its falsity- oh, here's a typewriter with proportional type, here's a typewriter that has superscript -- no one shows how the entire document could have been created -- yet CBS adamantly sticks by its story.

CBS posted an obvious forgery, and when they were shown that it was, to an absolute certainty -- an irrefutable standard of proof - by forensic methods [not based on anyone's subject claim] to be a forgery, they still did not back down.

-- showing, BTW, that CBS is not only ignorant of the Blogosphere, they are ignorant of the print medium.

Actually B$tch Mapes, you are the tool of the Jihadists like every other lying leftwing maggot mediot of the MSM.

CBS has at least 5 decades of lying and spinning to the American people going back to Uncle Walter and Nam.

Those days are over.

Do us a favor and try some more lies about our President.
