The same crowd will be yelling for the next crucifixion if a strong Evangelical is nominated.

Yeah right.

Sorry, some of us care more about America than about Lord God Bush.

"Just remember most of the people who opposed Miers were the same who opposed Roberts and oppose everything the Preisdent does. They hate him just as much as the kook left does which is why they sound more and more like them every day."

Yes, we should all be REAL Conservatives, like YOU.... by supporting the President's open borders policies and left-leaning Judicial appointments! It's all so clear now.

I'm not going to gloat - though I do feel satisfied. I have more respect for Miers now than I did before, because this is the first case I have ever seen of her doing the right thing based on principles.

However, if there isn't some compromise by all parties, it is possible that no one will be confirmed, and this selection will be left to the follow-on administration.

Which is exactly what the Democrats want. So why would they compromise?

And now all the Miers haters are gearing up to do the same to the next person the President nominates.

And your proof of this is....?

Yes, but not from a virulent campaign carried on by those in his own party.

THANK GOODNESS!!! It's about darn time! She never should have been nominated in the first place!

We know the Federalist Society lost "confidence." I wonder if Dobson was ready to withdraw his support as well...??

If you ever want my support/money again, please pick a REAL conservative this time, Mr. President.

We love this president, and it was painful to have to oppose him on this issue. If he nominates a qualified, conservative individual (i.e., not Gonzoles), you will see an unprecedented outpouring of zeal and support by those who wish to (a) fix the Court, (b) thank the president for doing the right thing, (c) make amends, and (d) stick it to the Left.

Well said!

Laura Ingraham just began her show by saying "The first thing we should do is thank Harriet Miers, what she did was a hard thing to do."

A suitable and positive sentiment.

Trent Lott is doing a good job too - on FoxNews.

Your screed comes off as hyperventilating. I'm confident that nearly all posters who thought Miers was a disaster in the making are willing to throw full support behind a nominee who is a strict constructionist, using benchmarks such as Thomas, Scalia or Rhenquist to define the meaning of strict constructionist.

Painting your allies as bad intentioned will cause your opinion to become marginalized.

BUMP.

Donations to the DNC, donations to Gore, plus: "she cited conservative bêtes noires Janet Reno and Justice Ginsburg as female role models."

The MSM is going to THRASH BUSH on this.

WE NEED TO RALLY TOGETHER. LOBBY FOR A CONSERVATIVE (JRB). SUPPORT BUSH WHEN WE GET IT. (I think we will).

BUT WE NEED TO KNOW WHO OUR ENEMIES ARE..AND THEY ARE NOT HERE!

If it's another Souter clone (or Gonzales), bank on it! Otherwise, you're delusional. Blackbird.

Your thought is ludicrous. We would love nothing better than to support the President, and I don't have to prove this to you or any other folks who follow Bush like some kind of prophet.

All of the evidence points to the fact that she is no conservative. Andy Card who helped us get Souter during the Bush 41 Presidency also helped with this one. Warms your cockles I imagine. Just think, another Souter or Kennedy would have been wonderful news for our cause.

END SARCASM!!

No, we know her current church membership. The question was whether or not she'd ever actually been a Roman Catholic. That particular tale earned her the everlasting hatred of the Religious Wars advocates over at National Review, National Review Online and their running dog lackeys.

Being a member of an independent Christian church should hardly cause concern.

***Nothing short of Janice Rogers Brown will be acceptable to some around here.***

That's silly. JRB is one of many fine known conservatives out there.

"And now all the Miers haters are gearing up to do the same to the next person the President nominates."

Not at all true. There were conservative groups with huge war chests waiting to support a nomination but who stayed on the sidelines because of Bush's poor pick. They and we are ready to go to war if Bush nominates a strong conservative with a great track record.
