Pat Robertson has a message for Dover, PA: Don't ask God to help.

DOVER, Pa. -- Pat Robertson had a special message for residents of Dover, Pa., today after voters there elected to boot the current school board, which instituted an intelligent design policy that led to a federal trial.

Robertson made the comment after Lee Webb of CBN News delivered a report on how residents in Dover voted in eight new Democratic board members, replacing all eight current members who had voted for a policy that required students in ninth-grade biology classes to hear a statement on intelligent design before hearing lessons on evolution. Webb then asked Robertson what he thought about the vote.

Here was Robertson's response.

"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected him from your city. And don't wonder why he hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for his help because he might not be there."

We don't need government to give us spiritual direction. What happened to the Dover School Board should be a wakeup call for the GOP.

Why does it have to be either/or?

I was trying to hold it down to a binary choice, for the sake of Robertson's defenders, who might be trying to follow the argument.

"How can we predict what God is going to create next? At least with evolution, we can use it to predict what can happen next with the avian flu, for example, that it might evolve to be transferable between humans. If we used intelligent design to predict what could happen next, what would be be able to predict? That it might one day turn into a cantaloupe?"

That is the problem with evolution. You can not predict what happens next and that is exactly what real science requires. You have your argument backwards. AND the process needs to be repeatable.

So what is your pet dog going to turn into next? Evolution if it is indeed a fact should be able to tell you.

If Pat can invoke God over a local policy matter, than so can I, and I did. :)

Pat Robertson should do God a favor, and tell people he's an atheist.

That's what I do, and it works out really well. That is what makes so popular on this site. :)

Teaching evolution as the 'Origin of Life' is spitting in God's eye. Have you read your Bible lately?

I have. The Bible is clear on the origin of life. It is rather obscure as to the origin of the species. Which makes sense, when you think about it, given that the Bible makes no attempt at being a biology textbook.

Could not say it better myself. I guess if you wanted to live in a parallel universe.

I think the issue here is that the board simply wants a statement added to their science curriculum that would state that there is another viewpoint and it's that God created mankind. What's wrong with that?

Well, there's plenty wrong with just that, but that's not all the late lamented Dover School Board was up to. They used the classroom to push a thinly disguised religious tract, "Of Pandas and Peoples," which they falsely labeled as science. That's just dishonest.

You have to blame Jesus then since He is the one who said things like He that believes not is condemned already (Jn 3:18), Except your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter Heaven (Mt. 5:20) and I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.(Jn. 14:6). Is he lying or telling the truth?

Can we PLEASE finally return SOME sanity to the GOP? SHUT UP these IDIOTS like Pat Robertson who, by unfortunate association, make those sentient and rational Republicans like me sometimes appear to be knuckle dragging inbred morons?

I'm tired of it. I'm tired of idiots like Robertson saying idiotic drivel in the name of God every so often - which the MSM LOVES to eat up and spit out to make us look stupid.

Didn't he learn his lesson yrs ago when he predicted some hurricane would destroy Disney for their gay celebration - and then a HUGE Hurricane hit his HQ at VA BEach.

Idiot.

Gravity can be observed real time.

Well, the effects of gravity, at least .... I've never seen a quart of gravity sitting in my fridge ...

Seems to me that I remember something like that happened in the French Revolution. The French rejected God and look where they are now. God doesn't force Himself on anyone; why should He go where He's not wanted. I agree.

And on the flip side the Roman Empire embraced him and look what happened to them

So much for ID not being about religion, eh?

If this was uncharacteristic of him, I'd think it might be a sign of dementia. But he's made asshat statements like this his whole career.

Somehow feeding people alive to the lions and boiling them alive in oil and crucifying them upside down doesn't sound like embracing Him to me. The Roman persecution of Christianity was pretty severe.

One of the defeated Dover school board members has released a video statement.

She does not seem happy with the results:

However, she is expected to top the Christian music charts with her new single:

But weather doesn't have free will. He will use it to get attention if that's what it takes to shake people up if needed.

OK. Katrina killed hundreds and made many thousands homeless throughout the deep South. What exactly was God trying to tell them? What is the significance of Katrina ravaging New Orleans instead of, say, Atlanta or Tampa/St. Pete? And why did He make it happen in early September 2005 instead of, say, August 2004 or August 2006?

What exactly was God trying to get our attention for?

Just don't understand why God would see fit to send this kind of destruction to the Gulf Coast.
