We don't need government to give us spiritual direction. What happened to the Dover School Board should be a wakeup call for the GOP.
I was trying to hold it down to a binary choice, for the sake of Robertson's defenders, who might be trying to follow the argument.
"How can we predict what God is going to create next? At least with evolution, we can use it to predict what can happen next with the avian flu, for example, that it might evolve to be transferable between humans. If we used intelligent design to predict what could happen next, what would be be able to predict? That it might one day turn into a cantaloupe?"
That is the problem with evolution. You can not predict what happens next and that is exactly what real science requires. You have your argument backwards. AND the process needs to be repeatable.
So what is your pet dog going to turn into next? Evolution if it is indeed a fact should be able to tell you.
If Pat can invoke God over a local policy matter, than so can I, and I did. :)

I have. The Bible is clear on the origin of life. It is rather obscure as to the origin of the species. Which makes sense, when you think about it, given that the Bible makes no attempt at being a biology textbook.

Well, there's plenty wrong with just that, but that's not all the late lamented Dover School Board was up to. They used the classroom to push a thinly disguised religious tract, "Of Pandas and Peoples," which they falsely labeled as science. That's just dishonest.
You have to blame Jesus then since He is the one who said things like He that believes not is condemned already (Jn 3:18), Except your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter Heaven (Mt. 5:20) and I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.(Jn. 14:6). Is he lying or telling the truth?
Can we PLEASE finally return SOME sanity to the GOP? SHUT UP these IDIOTS like Pat Robertson who, by unfortunate association, make those sentient and rational Republicans like me sometimes appear to be knuckle dragging inbred morons?

If this was uncharacteristic of him, I'd think it might be a sign of dementia. But he's made asshat statements like this his whole career.
Somehow feeding people alive to the lions and boiling them alive in oil and crucifying them upside down doesn't sound like embracing Him to me. The Roman persecution of Christianity was pretty severe.

OK. Katrina killed hundreds and made many thousands homeless throughout the deep South. What exactly was God trying to tell them? What is the significance of Katrina ravaging New Orleans instead of, say, Atlanta or Tampa/St. Pete? And why did He make it happen in early September 2005 instead of, say, August 2004 or August 2006?
What exactly was God trying to get our attention for?
Just don't understand why God would see fit to send this kind of destruction to the Gulf Coast.
