Pennsylvania State police are searching for a 14-year-old girl reportedly kidnapped at gunpoint after her parents were murdered.
Authorities have issued an Amber Alert for Kara Beth Borden, who was last seen at 8 a.m. in Warwick Township, Lancaster County.
Police reported that the teen was taken by 18-year-old David G. Ludwig. Authorities say he was last seen driving a red Volkswagen Jetta with Pennsylvania registration E-H-H-0-9-9-4.
Borden is described as white, 5-feet-1, and 100 pounds, with brown hair with blond highlights. She was last seen wearing a black sweat shirt with "Pillar" across the front, blue jeans and black sneakers.
Ludwig is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes.
State police are urging people in the following counties or cities to be on the lookout for Ludwig: Lancaster, Lebanon, Dauphin, Perry, Juniata, York, Cumberland, Mifflin, Snyder, Northumberland, Franklin, Berks, Chester, Montgomery, Bucks, Philadelphia, Delaware, Schuykill, Lehigh and Northamption counties.
It was not immediately clear how authorities discovered the killings.
Neighbor John Hohman, 40, said he first noticed an ambulance on the street around 8:15 a.m. About 25 minutes later, he said he got a phone call from Lancaster emergency management officials telling his family to stay inside.
Looking out the window, Hohman said he saw teams of police running through the neighborhood; around 10:15 a.m., authorities told him to go into his basement and wait there until further notice.
"We were really upset; we didn't know what going on," Hohman said.
Hohman said Borden, who played soccer, occasionally babysat for him. "She's a very nice girl," Hohman said.
Neighbor Tod Sherman, 47, has lived in the quiet suburban development for 12 years and said that Borden was one of five children.
The Borden family has lived on the street in a tan, two-story house for several years, he said. Kara's father, Mike Borden, worked for a printing company, said Sherman.
"He was very smart and focused, a nice guy. They were super people," Sherman said. "They were just a fine family."
The Bordens home-schooled their children and knew Ludwig through a home-schooling network, Sherman said.
Sherman's son Tyler, 11, played with Kara's youngest brother, David. Tyler said he sometimes saw Ludwig at the Borden house, frequently dressed in black.
"I didn't find him to be very friendly," said Tyler.
The eldest two Borden children, both male, are in their 20s and no longer live at home, Sherman said. The whereabouts of David Borden and Kara's older sister, both of whom still live at home, were not immediately clear.
The Amber Alert system uses a state's emergency notification system to give broadcasters a description of a missing child and a suspect's vehicle. The information is also displayed on electronic highway signs.
It is named for 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnapped and killed in Arlington, Texas. It is used in 47 states.

Heh. Love these jr detective threads.
Didn't you notice how she had her picture taken in makeup therefore she is a slut that deserves to have all this happen? ...and don't forget the slut-rearing parents that obviously created this bonnie and clyde duo and should have known better. :-P
I don't know of one 14 yo girl who hasn't experimented with or wanted to experiment with makeup. My own daughter is 12 but genetics have endowed her with a very curvy figure and height making her appear to be older than she is. She is often mistaken for 18 or 19. She is strikingly beautiful and does nothing to enhance her looks other than waxing her eyebrows. Doing so does not make a girl a "floozy". It's preposterous to even suggest such.
You went through your whole teenage life with maybe a half hour of local evening news and an hour of national news. Now they have to fill 24 hours, and if they can have a victim or a perp that is a pretty blond girl, we'll all get to see it.
This story is a good example. This is essentially a local PA story, no national impact or need to know, yet we're watching it LIVE from a helicopter. Used to be we might see a story like this in the back of the paper somewhere.
No I did not say ALL teenagers are fearless killers, but for the most part KIDS have no FEAR, they do not understand the ramifications of there actions. Kids are not made to respect adult authority and IMHO killing is one result of that.
I just can't imagine a kid from a loving, normal family killing someone in cold blood. I'm always suspicious that there is something going on at home.
That's because it is only lately that such stories are national news, instead of just being a local story. Most small towns don't have a lot of murder stories, if any.
Ya know, that dent in the back bumper of the getaway car makes me wonder if the police bumped the car, which was a factor in the car running into a tree? If so, thank goodness for the airbags, imagine the media-fueled uproar if they had been killed or severely hurt in that crash.
Obviously this girl brought this upon her own family by trimming her eyebrows.
Sometimes things just happen and can't be predicted. It's easy for them to analyze it after the fact.
Bad things happen in good families.

You came on here, speaking in CAPS FOR EMPHASIS, making HUGE leaps of logic because YOUR EMOTIONS have got the better of you...
Now, I could say all FReepers have a tendency to RANT and fly off the handle and make HUGE LEAPS OF LOGIC... but that would be incorrect... (or would it?) LOL.
Ludwig should be tried this afternoon and hung from a gibbet for the sport of crows in the AM, but in todays world he will probably be out in 7 or 8 years.
If this had to do with a young teenage love gone wrong, it's anything but cold blood...
not gonna go there........nope...no way :)
Thats right. Trimming eyebrows is a sure sign of a female being cheap and easy.
I guess I'd better stop getting my eyebrows waxed. Wouldn't want anyone to mistake me for a hooker.

Whoa, my brother has long greasy hair covering his face as well! What a sicko! Better alert the authorities!
I just think Kids are exposed to so much violence especially on the Internet, parents cannot discipline there children..Spare the rod, spoil the child and this is one result I feel.
Indiana is about 4 hours from Lancaster. Westward, in the Pittsburgh area.
SPEAK FOR YOURSELF... I DO NOT RANT OR FLY OFF THE HANDLE!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a nice day...
My point is merely that this was likely a hot-blooded and very emotionally driven crime... "killing in cold blood" is something else... disconnected, emotionless, or random.
