Got to admit, Joel has been drawing the people to Christ. The church has like quadrupled membership since his daddy died, You mean he has been drawing people to his CHURCH. Not necessarily to Christ. If people find Christ, it's not because it's in his preaching. I listen to him when I'm in the mood to be irritated at the growing apostasy and lukewarmness of what purports to be 'the body of Christ.'

I loved that post. I'm glad to hear you see the falseness of the seeker-sensitive thing!

I do get a chuckle out of the little confession they say every service: I don't. It's not funny. It's tragic.

That prosperity cookie is beginning to crumble! Lakewood grew large at the expense of other charismatic churches in the area.

Just as an aside, I am an evangelical Christian but Joel Osteen tends to turn my stomach. The Bible is the ultimate "self help"; why do we need corny lectures and books on self help topics from Mr. Osteen? Right about that. The mission of all Christians is to spread the Gospel of Christ and nothing more. I am sick of these "prosperity Gospel" types who spent most of their TV time talking about and preaching about raising money.
