Joe Biden's Loose Lips
2005, Washington Post Writers Group ^ | January 12, 2006 | Richard Cohen

Posted on 01/12/2006 7:08:58 AM PST by Angel

The only thing standing between Joe Biden and the presidency is his mouth. ... snip

The tragedy is that Biden, who is running for president, is a much better man and senator than these accounts would suggest. But his tendency, his compulsion, his manic-obsessive running of the mouth has become the functional equivalent of womanizing or some other character weakness that disqualifies a man for the presidency. It is his version of corruption, of alcoholism, of a fierce temper or vile views -- all the sorts of things that have crippled candidates in the past. It is, though, an innocent thing, as good-humored as the man and of no real policy consequence. It will merely stunt him politically.

It sounds like the Hillary machine is trying to derail Biden's bid for president. They must be worried about his chances over Hillary for the Democratic nomination.

What do you think?

Didn't he pinch, word for word, a speech made by Neil Kinnock, former leader of Brit's Labor (Labour) party?

I should think that would derail any chances he might have to become President.

I think Richard Cohen is telling us what he really thinks about Joe Biden. Mr. Biden is not well liked on the Hill. Believe me. He is a putz, pure and simple.

As for Hillary, she isn't well like either - by the voting public. Her unfavorable numbers are still enormous because she seems cold and unfriendly...unlike her husband, who, for all his faults, can be very charming. I know, I know. He's a putz, too. But he can be a charming putz.

I don't see how you connect Biden's hyper-verbosity with Hillary, unless you're suggesting that the WRITING about it is Hillary's doing.

Verbal incontinence is not always a bad thing. Sometimes it reveals the awful truth. Was it Joe Biden who said, "Did you know that Bill Clinton is a very good liar?"

The brief mention of Biden's earlier speeches glossed over the fact that it was not just once but multiple times he was caught red-handed (red-penned?) plagarizing others. That's more serious than being a blowhard IMO and would properly doom him regardless of Hillary.

That was Bob Kerry -- he called The Bent One "an unusually good liar."

Biden doesn't stand a snowball's chance of working in the oval office.

With his shallow pomposity, he is a walking caricature of the empty suit political hack.

Few people in America are less qualified to be president than Joe Biden. Surprisingly, most of them serve in the US Senate.

Not Biden.

"Bill Clinton is an unusually good liar"- Senator Bob Kerry, Democrat, February 3, 1996, Esquire magazine interview.

"he is a walking caricature of the empty suit political hack."

He just exemplified that sitting down at the Alito hearing. He just asked Alito if the president of the US has the authority to invade Iran tomorrow......OH my now he just asked if he could invade Syria......

Does this man not understand how the worlds media works???

The only thing standing between Joe Biden and the presidency is his mouth.

And his brain surgery.

"... a charming putz"

Charm is part of a con man's scamming technique. Once exposed, the "charm" renders the con as more heinous.
