There is a certain segment of society that lives to prey on their fellow man. No matter the danger to themselves they see the reward as worth the risk.

There really is no answer to such inhumanity. It's everywhere.

John Boy's trips are paid for by North Carolina taxpayers. UNC Chapel Hill created a job for him and fund his travels. Who runs UNC? Former Clinton Chief of Staff Ersline Bowles. Is this a great country or what?

He was still ABSOLUTE though, asked if the deal will happen, he replied "No, it will not"

Then what is the point of the reviews and investigations if his mind is already made up??

Hunter is losing creditability with those comments

The US doesn't want a wuss running the country. Edwards comes across to me as a wuss. If you popped him in the jaw, he wouldn't try to pop you back, he would start to cry.

Yes, I like Jonah Goldberg and am glad that he is printed in the LA Times. Jay Nordlinger is good. Rich Lowry is a Tucker Carlson wannabe, ie, he is over the moon with being on TV. He pulls so many punches that I never hear him deliver a strong point on anything.

Of course, I do not include VDH or Mark Steyn as being in this group of gripers.

IMHO, Victor Davis Hanson is the dean of the intellectuals.

And even us peasants can understand his commentary.

Scholars say it is too soon to begin closing the books on Mr. Bush's legacy

But that is what the media is trying to do

Close the book

Morning Morgan. The reason Brown is getting so much rear end kissing by the media is because he is seen as the face of the President's response to Katrina.

Facts do not matter at all. Simply perception that it's all Bush's fault.

Nagin and BlankO went a long way to disproving that so now the media is bringing the blame back to Bush.

I for one don't see how the former FEMA director was so "COMPETENT" for the other 4 or so hurricanes that happened in the previous two years that back to backed Florida.

IMHO BROWN was the fall guy and while there is NO DOUBT there were mistakes at every level of gov't, the LION'S SHARE of the blame goes to the LOCAL and STATE [Nagin & Blanco].

Let's face it this was the single most devestating natural event ever dealt with on THAT SCALE and the WEAK link that caused the chain to break was Nagin's and Blanco's ineptitude and the LAW that stopped the FED's from taking over when they realized that they were dealing with incompetent first responders.

And especially, every time he is on TV he should say New Orleans suffered two attacks by nature. The hurricane hit at dawn on Monday. It passed. The sun came out. People cheered. The canal walls failed Monday afternoon and Monday night.

Nope. Canal walls failed during the storm. National weather Service issued a bulletin at 8:14 AM on Monday re: Industrial Canal; The 17th Street canal was reported broken at 3AM (by National Guard Bureau) and 5AM Monday (by LA State Police).

The flood that inundated the Ninth Ward and St Bernard Parish happened late Monday and Monday night.

Yep. Takes a long time to flood such a large area.

Reminds me of the 'quiet glee' coming from our side I felt/saw watching Dean before the scream.

Like bloggers going blogasmic over the media's mess-steps.

PR and communications failures by this White House are legendary, and pretty well documented on FR.

Having said that, I don't blame President Bush for the Katrina problems. Old Media does, but old media blames President Bush for everything else anyway. It snowed, Bush's fault. The sun is out, Bush's fault. Your toilet's backed up, Bush's fault.

I wonder if the media will have a sudden ephiphany when they come to realize their safety and the safety of their families might lie in the hands of the democrats.

To them all this Bush bashing is sport, but there is terrible danger lurking and they must realize that.....I hope.

so one has to logically make the assumption the ultimate problem was with the state and not FEMA

@@@

No one even knows the name of the LEMA head. Yes, there is/was a Louisiana Emergency Management Agency! It does not fit the template of Bush's Fault to even mention this man - who apparently must have obeyed the order to evacuate - and was never heard or seen again - at least not in front of a reporter!

If you are strong enough to stomach listening to the left wing "hate Bush/Republican Radio", you will notice that the MSM are sounding more and more like that ilk, and less and less like real Newsmen

You can add the politicians into that group also

Harry Reid is calling the President a Loser and Pat Leahey is calling him King George

Heck .. there are even a few of them writing blogs over at the Daily Kos

I have repeated over and over......who will be the first politician to stand up and say that the President of the United States has the right to usurp the power of any governor of any state in an emergency. Take over their national guard and take control of the citizens of that state.

As much as I love this President I would never want to give him, or anyone else, that right.

Thanks for the link and the compliment

Here's my summary of  my Weekend Talk Show *Meme Predictions* for 3/2/06 - 3/3/06 and what I think the guests are there to try to do

Miss Marple has a great post about Lugar

Morgan in Denver has a really good summary post as well as an excellent post (with links) concerning the "More Boots On The Ground" mantra of the MSM and the left

Thanks to everyone who contributed.  I'll probably be very light today trying to catch up with stuff before being away from work for the week.
