You would think before elected officials opened their mouth they would check their facts if it took you 48 hours they should with their staff and information they already have the info much quicker if they do not already have it.

It leads me to believe they know what they are saying is untrue but saying if for effect, to make themselves look as if they are being holier than thou to their voters.

This new victimhood that some Americans have embraced is just plain sad. We've just lost our "can do" spirit and gumption and it's depressing the heck out of me.

Many feel the same way Peach. The positive influence of conservatism only shows itself in our personal self-reliance and unwillingness to boast. Those qualities don't make sexy headlines. You can only read about them in history books. Sometimes we have to just turn off the pundits and politicians and just do what we feel is the right thing. We will weather the current storms by doing the best we can for our families, friends and our Country. JMHO.

Well put, Liberty. And so true. I've just tuned them out for now because history will show the irrelevancy of the pundits and self declared experts.

Interesting, and it works. The only problem, from my perspective, is that I don't watch old media that much to begin with so I don't know what products to avoid.

It would be nice if someone, like Media Research Center, would put a list out. But, I doubt they would do something like that.

Sadly, a lot, like Specter called for an investigation before even checking things out with President Bush first.

"What is the explanation behind "we want nothing to do with Dubai, Dubai wants nothing to do with CNN"..."

sorry. that was in reference to CNN being biased and clearly opposed to the Dubai deal, and Dubai having refused to give interviews to Lou Dobbs. I can think of no GOOD reason for CNN to bother going to Dubai. Just my opinion of course.

see 439 for an explanation to your second question on Blitzer spotlighting the rift between karzai and musharaff, and then acting oh so surprised that the rift existed.

The blame lies entirely with the elected officials in Louisiana. -- Old friend

Brown certainly did not have the problems with other states, compared to Louisiana, so one has to logically make the assumption the ultimate problem was with the state and not FEMA. -- Morgan in Denver

Gulf Coasters by and large hold the locals to blame as upcoming elections will show. -- Chiller

As the responses on this topic show, once again FReepers understand where the blame lies. It's encouraging to see that the Gulf coasters, who were the folks directly harmed, also know the truth.

thank you. odd wasn't it, that Blitzer purposefully set that whole thing up, making sure that Musharraf knew of the leak, and then acted so dog gone surprised about the outcome. Musharraf was ticked.

Being from Florida and having gone through three Horrible Hurricanes, plus a Panhandle Hurricane that came back through My area as a tropical storm, I can attest that Brown did his job fine. It is all about who is governor and who are the leaders locally that are supposed to set up the Hurricane Protection Programs and have the People to implement them. It is in reality a State Function. The State,Feds, and Locals all must work together and have plans way ahead of time, and update those plans as newer info and solutions become known and available. South Florida re-awakened after a very long sleep. They were caught with their pants down, but still managed to look 300 percent better than LA. They are much smarter now, and the whiners are mostly embarrassed that they dallied for decades and thought that Andrew was an anomaly. The difference in all these disasters is leadership, and Haley Barbour and Jeb Bush showed what great Leadership can be and how corrupt Government led by inept Democrat leadership can cause tragedy in a heartbeat that will last a lifetime.

Also notice that this co-chaired meeting of the President and VP despite rumours to the contra over the last 2 years there is not a rift between them.

As Novak stated the other day what a lot of people are not aware when there are official visitors to the White House both the President and VP are at the actual meeting. When the cameras roll for photo opportunities only the President is there the VP having slipped out the other door prior to press being admitted. Even admit the "shooting" foray they were holding joint meetings, he cited Kofi Annan's visit.

Have you seen phsstpok's Saturday Pre-View thread for the Sunday talk shows???

He goes to great lengths to list the guests and topics for each show, and giving links that are pertinent.

However, he also solicits information from all freepers to be posted, so we would all watch the shows or read this thread having already studied the background and lastest articles, columns, etc.

Seattle...you could post some there on Saturday...but still save some for Sunday...you are such a font of fantastic information!

Dang...I am out of the loop today...I didn't know that Dubai refused to give interviews to Lou Dobbs. Thanks for that...very interesting..

I did notice that Wolf was in Dubai...and thought that once again CNN goes for cheesy, instead of substance.

I had to post that a couple of times, because I just loved his remarks.

For those of you who don't normally visit the Daily Dose and/or want to see pictures of the President's trip, Snugs, Ohio, Gretchen, Wolfstar, and Mike so a SUPERB job of posting pictures of the POTUS, FLOTUS, VPOTUS, and others in the Admin every day. It really is a trip to 'Sanity Island' as there is no Bush-bashing, and, unlike the MSM and Dim's attempts to rewrite history, this thread just re-enforces the old saying: a picture is worth 1,000 words.

Since it's not getting much attention in the MSM, here are some threads to check out the President and First Lady's trip over the past week:

PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAYL President and Mrs. Bush and the presidential party have safely left Pakistan for home after a remarkable 5-day trip to nuclear rivals, India and Pakistan. Using diplomatic finesse his detractors claim is beyond him, the President balanced vists to both countries while achieving a significant civilian nuclear technology treaty with India.

As I post this thread, there are no photos of the presidential party arriving home in Washington.

Today the President Bush was in India and left there for Isamabad, Pakistan early this morning. Security for the President and the first lady has been a major undertaking by our Secret Service and the Pakistani Security Sevices. The President will be leaving Pakistan within the next 12 hours

The President and the first lady continue their far east tour, today they attended several events in India

There was an article that referred to the First Lady as the "Queen of America" showing that she has the ability to win hearts all over the world. Ohio pinged me to the thread about this article earlier and also the dose ping, in case you missed the ping here is a link to that thread. On the way to India for his first visit there (which will include talks on a landmark deal on civilian nuclear trade), President Bush made his second surprise visit to US troops overseas, this time in Afghanistan, visiting with some of the approximately 19,000 US troops there, as well as President Hamid Karzai. Then it was on to India.

Wolf is VERY eager to do the "gotcha" type interview---he does it all of the time..

However, I don't know if playing those kind of games between leaders in that part of the world is a smart idea...but, then again, who says Wolfie is smart, eh?
