I suppose on this thread it goes without saying, but I'll say in anyway...BOYCOTT THE OSCARS tonight.
I want the ratings for this year's program go into the toilet (where most the nominated movies belong). I won't waste my money to see the films, my electricity to watch the Oscars, or my time watching to witness Hollywood's self-adulation fest.
Pass it on...

MASH (the film) benefited from its era and its style, and from the cult of personality around Robert Altman.
I was at a video industry trade show around 2002 or so, where Altman was on a panel, and before it started I turned to a friend and said 'It will only take him three questions before he dovetails his answer into 'the suits never made me do it my way' act.
Lame.

At least Brokeback has only won ONE. It'll get Ang Lee, and I'm hoping that IS IT. I'm pulling for Crash.

You know I have heard some of this gangsta rap stuff and often said -- bet this won't play in a some movie 20 years from now (like some of the songs from my generation) and then what happens one of those songs actually wins an academy award! Depressing.
