The border crossings did spike, but they spiked because of the use of the "Amnesty word" which did not come from Bush. it came from the detractors of the "guest worker program and from nowhere else.

It happened because changes were being discussed and the border was not secure.

"Wasn't the idea behind this thread to promote Conservative Republicans?"

Those who don't have a death wish, yes.

California is one of the few western states that repeatedly votes to compound its own problems.

Like when we passed Prop 187, which made all law enforcement officers check immigration status, and denied ALL benefits to illegal immigrants a FULL TWELVE YEARS AGO! Long before illegal immigration was a blip any other state's radar.

As I recall a Federal judge struck it down. Please spare me the California bashing. The President got more votes from here then from any other state, and the Republican party gets the vast majority of its money from here. Not to mention it's the home of this website.

..everyone else is too busy trying to clean the problem up..

Please..

Well all I can say is...that sometimes a good fight can make very good FRiends out of those who were previously engaged in combat. At times a mutual respect can be formed by combatants when each score their share of valid blows.

And you wonder why people consider you a troll?

I am a troll for having conservative leanings? Sure, i don't support the presidents lack of movement on the invasion of mexicans & al quaeda and the 400 billion precription program, but I do think he's a hell of a lot better than our other option we were given.

How am I a troll. My convictions are squarely in line with those on the front page here at FR, just not the latest unwritten interpretation. What have i ever said that was trollish? So I have a goofy profile page. That makes me a troll? I donate here, and have supported FR in my time here.

Yeah, I am a veteran, son of a Viet Nam veteran (BOTH my mom & dad!), nephew to two Viet Nam puprple heart veterans, and grandson to 2 purple heart WWII vets, one a veteran of D-Day.

How doea any of that make me a troll?

Well, "the greatest" is definitely pushing it! The Vitter amendment would've stripped the guest worker amnesty provisions from the bill. It's been rejected, but the roll call isn't online yet.

We have opposing parties. The Republicans vs the RINOs. Hopefully, someday, we'll have enough Republicans to overpower both the RINOs and their Democrat accomplices.

Not to be unnecessarily particular about your specific analogies, but the immigration issue - especially - and his stand on it goes beyond 'parsley'.

Lifetime appointments of Roberts and Alito = Big Juicy Porterhouse Steak.

Immigration Debate = Parsley.

Perspective, baby!

Now, I really gotta get outta here.

It has nothing to do with anecdotal trash thrown at the President for talking about guest workers.

Dead wrong. The economy was doing well in 2004 as well.

There is a difference between Republican and conservative, and a difference between Democrat and liberal.

At one time, perhaps.

Regarding Dems...don't think that holds true today.

Virtually every democrat I know is straight liberal.

>><< It should be the goal of EVERY conservative to see that Lincoln Chaffee is defeated in November. His seat is one we can afford to lose. Were I a Rhode Island resident, I would vote for the Democrat if only to send a message to Snowe, Hagel, Collins, Graham, and especially that bastard Specter that their primaries just got a lot tougher.<<

Chaffee's conservative rating of 12 ties him exactly with Hillary Clinton

If what is necessary is sitting out an election - it is unacceptable and is only helping the enemy.

I don't have time to read all the posting history of the posters to get their full views - sorry - but that is reality.

It's looking GOOD today thus far, and for that I am grateful and a little more optimistic.

Tony Snow is in command again today. FNC is covering if you have access to TV.

"Bush's plan won't go through. The House will refuse to capitulate on amnesty. So we will have status quo."

I hope your right Vicomte13 but this is what we thought about the McPain/Finkgold Campaign Finance Reform bill. Sometimes the Repubis seem to have no limits to their gullability.

Ah, I have seen "placemarker" or "sit-rep" or "bookmark" for that, but was taught "BTTT" means bump to the top, so as to have this thread appear at the top of the recent posts list.

In any case, i'll accept your explanation with a thank you.

You're not. He pulls that regularly with Howlin.

Oh, that's rich. Howlin is the queen of attack mode on FR.

I've debated plenty of people in a polite manner over this issue. But when people say I want Dems to win, or imply I'm a Stormfronter, guess what? I will return fire, especially now since the moderators are taking sides in this debate.
