Coulter won't apologize for slamming 9/11 widows

...a town where a dozen roadways are named in honor of those who died that day, few took to New York Avenue to protest the bookstore signing of the conservative author.

Instead, a defiant Coulter was met with more than 300 spirited fans at an event broadcast live to hundreds of radio stations by conservative commentator -- and Huntington Town resident -- Sean Hannity.

Huntington Town Board member Mark Cuthbertson, publicly rebuked her as he handed over a letter. "I'm here on behalf of many of my constituents. We are disgusted with your comments," he said, drawing hoots from the crowd.

Coulter ripped up the letter to the cheers of her admirers, an action Cuthberston later said shows she is "promoting hate speech."

The sign above little Mark's head is appropriate.

I notice that the critics you link to aren't "liberals" per se but self-proclaimed "libertarians". The Reason writers often complain that the Republican Party needs to go back to being more libertarian. The truth is, the libertarians, especially the Libertarians, need to get their heads out of their asses and become more Republican-- or at least more conservative.

Instead of fighting for the Constitution, smaller government or laws that respect individual intuitive, they've become snarky leftists who prize their libertine social revolution first, and preening as if they're above mere partisan mortals like Ann Coulter (who's done more for shrinking govenment than most of them ever will combined) second. Forget libertarians fixing conservatism. Conservatives need to fix libertarianism.

What utter tripe.

If you believe being, among other things, for increased government spending, a larger federal government, pro illegal alien, and pro-cronyism (i.e., modern Republicanism) is conservative, we've already lost the game. Why the hell even bother?

And please spare us the partisan backlash as well.

For better or worse, Dean is a pol. Ann writers amusing books employing the basic tools of legal advocacy as a jumping off point for her humor. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

>>>An unrepentant Ann Coulter Wednesday blasted into Huntington, hometown to 34 people killed on Sept. 11, to promote her new book in which she attacks victims' widows as "witches" and "harpies."

Gee, doesn't that make it sound a little like Ann attacked ALL 9/11 widows, and not just 4 or 5 of the raving moonbats with BDS?... I'm shocked that a reporter or editor wouldn't catch that. It's like they wanted folks to believe she was attacking all 9/11 widows... Wierd. /sarc

Cynthia McKinney has a highway or part of an interstate (forget which) named after her. Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time, LOL!

Here in GA it got so bad I think they finally passed a law saying you had to be dead to get a stretch of road in your name.

Isn't that the road named for her father, Billy McKinney?

Why do you guys keep naming roads after Generals who lost a war. Why not name one after someone on the winning side? Like General Sherman, for instance.

(It's a joke, a joke)

Exactly right. Libertarians are left wing libertines who demand no restraints on their sex, drugs, and smooth jazz life styles while pilloring those of us who defend our country.
Before you start (you know who you are) don't give us any guff about libertarian principles and philosophy. You are known by the company you attract.

I agree with you...no apology necessary.

Coulter is merely stating the obvious.

There's alot of people in this country who get their 15 minutes in the spotlight through some kind of tragedy....and the 9-11 widows are no exception.

Comparing Ann Coulter to Dean and Kusinich is assinine. There is no similiarity whatsoever.

I lived in Syracuse for 17 years. I am a nurse and was talking to a patient and her husband one day. They said something about my accent.
(Accent? What accent? You have the accent, DUH!)

The conversation went to the war when I said I was originally from the Richmond area and grew up in the middle of where the Seven Days battles were fought.

I mentioned that I moved to Atlanta and that is when they said they were related to Sherman and someone even had one of his uniforms.

I raised an eyebrow, looked at them and asked (in a joking way) "So what you are saying is that there are no old homes in Atlanta because of your great-great-something or other? BTW, I will be starting your IV in a minute. I think we might need a big needle."

It's a shame there are so many people who can not get over it and joke about it like this.

My step father was from New Jersey. The only time I have ever been offended (although offended was not a buzz word in the 60's) is when my weird (and they are weird) yankee cousins would always joke about us being on the losing side. I would just smile, look at them and think "you are calling us losers!!! HAHAHAHAHA"
