Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmed Fatfat called the airport strikes a "general act of war," Thursday saying they had nothing to do with Hizbullah, but were instead an attack against the country's "economic interests," especially its tourism industry, CNN reported on its Web Site.

Yeah sure its a general act of war. But just pack up the Hizballah and send them away to Syria and the Israelies will end this General Act of War as generally as they started it.

Wow, they got it right. That's exactly why the airport was attacked. Israel said that if their tourism is destroyed, so would be Lebanon's. Glad that they read FreeRepublic.

Hizbullah seriously miscalculated again and now the IDF is going to rip them a new one . Lebanon should take this opportunity to get rid of these vermin themselves ,once and for all. This is their big chance , they should not be whining about it.

An organ grinder would never get rid of his monkey, because the organ grinder doesn't want to be the one begging money. Likewise, none of the little Middle East Arab countries will end their association with terror organizations, because they want to prick Israel, but need a surrogate to hide behind.

IDF: If Hadera is hit we'll destroy Beirut buildings

The Israel Defense Forces has imposed a full aerial, ground and naval closure on Lebanon, a senior IDF officer said Thursday. According to the officer, the forces are prepared for extended fighting in a bid "to halt the terror activity and hit Hizbullah."

The IDF was not deterred by dealing with two fronts – the Lebanese and the Gazan – simultaneously, especially "where there is a clear ideological connection between the two," according to the senior officer.

"Our target is the Lebanese state, and simultaneously we seek to hit terror organizations, with an emphasis on Hizbullah. We are preparing for a long battle and the current round will not end in a short while, as has happened since IDF soldiers left Lebanon," the officer said.

"Even if they have thousands, we have at least 10 times more," the officer clarified. "If they attack Haifa and Hadera, it will constitute a reason to severely damage Lebanese infrastructures, including Hizbullah's 20-story buildings inside Beirut."

Lebanon really does have a huge tourism industry. They have even run advertisements in Europe. Apparently the night life in Beirut is really great. The women are supposed to be fantastically beautiful and the atmosphere wonderful.

Thus, Israel's actions, although far away from where any tourists may go, probably just cost them hundered of millions of dollars in foreign currency.

That should have been on the minds of the government prior to letting Hizbullsh!t attack.

Somehow I doubt the thugs in Hizbollah brought up their plans at the last meeting of Parliament.

Although who knows...

Clearly not, but last I heard the Lebanese were not exactly making extraordinary efforts to remove Hamas from their territory.

If you harbor terrorists, or even tunr a blind eye, you should be prepared to face the consequences of your inaction.

Looks like I'm gonna have to cancel that vacation in Lebanon during a conflict with Israel just because that darn airport is shut down.

I'll cut the Lebanese gov't about an inch of slack on this one. The last guy who tried to clean out Lebanon ended up dead courtesy of the Syrians.

And Hizbollah wouldn't exist without Boy Assad and his merrry band of butchers.

If the Israelis gov't really wants to end its problems with those thugs they need to kill Assad.

Fair enough and good point. The Lebanese are arguably still not 100% sovereign.

However I am not sure if killing Asad would be a terribly good long-term solution.

In addition to setting an unforunate precedent of assassignating regional leaders, the ensuing chaos in Syrai and international condemnation would probably not be in Israel's best short-term interest.

In the long-term Asad might easily be followed by an Islamic regime even more hostile to Israel.

I am honestly beginning to wonder whether Israel might just wish to go back into Gaza and take the rest of Palestine. Drive the Palestinians out. Create a huge buffer zone and annex the whole of biblical Israel. They would be no worse off and then have more land.
