I was born in Iran but I was raised in the United Stated. My parents were secular Muslims who like most Iranians had a resentment towards Islam but since they were forced into the religion they believed in it, but later resented being forced into it. As Persians they resented the religion forced onto the nation by Arabs and realized that Jimmy Carter and the Democrats who had this 'deep respect' for 'Islam' and 'Khomeini' as a 'religious man' were wrong, my father cried when that day came and we came to the US. I want to say that I love my country - the United States. I love my religion - Christianity. I will always be blessed by the Republican party for standing by the Shah of Iran for trying to distance Iran from Islam. I've worked on over 20 Republican campaigns, i've started various Republican political organizations. I will continue on this path because unlike many in this country I realize how blessed I am to be here and how blessed I am to be a Christian, Republican, American and of Persian background. I hope one day you will accept me as your representive in congress because I owe my life and my future to you.
This is the greatest country in the history of the world and I am proud to be an American, a Christian and I hope that one day I can represent you.
God bless America, the Republican Party, and everything you have given my family and I.
Welcome!
You're not alone, believe me.
Run somewhere where I can vote for you and you've got my vote. I say this as a Jewish Christian.
Thanks for your post. You are precisely what America is all about.
God bless you.
Thank you for one of the most directly poignant FR posts ever, especially in these intemperate times.
There was a time when the Persians were one of our best friends. Jimmy Carter let you fall to the lunatics and now you are THE enemy.
I look forward to the day when the Persians and Americans are, once again, allies.
Welcome, glad you're here!!!!!!!
Great story and no hyphenations!
Why not whatever they choose as individuals?
Thank you for posting this poignant 'vanity' . . . you made my evening!
May God continue to bless the United States of America (and the Commander in Chief/troops who defend her)!
Man how I wish voices like yours were not such a rarity.
I, for one, am glad you are here.
Keep up the good work.
Only recently at the suggestion of an expatriate Russian Jew have I realized that we live in the promised land here.
Welcome, and thank you for your efforts.
YOU ROCK!
I've met only a few Irainians but without exception, I've found them to be warm, friendly people. It's too bad that Iran is in the hands of the muslims right now.
Wonderful post. Thank you.
I've known some Persians, and they were cool people. Had some stay at my house while they were here on business (before the Shah fell). Had some as friends while I was in school. Your statement about Islam being imposed on your country by the Arabs is quite sad and quite true. I hope that changes some day. Good luck.
