After reviewing acknowledgments of God from all 50 state constitutions, one is faced with the prospect that maybe, the ACLU and the out-of-control federal courts are wrong! If you found this to be "Food for thought.." copy and send to as many as you think will be enlightened as I hope you were.

Well, the US founded it's laws on the principles of the Enlightenment, with a legal system with a basis stretching back to the pagan Saxon common law system.

South Dakota may not have a reference in the preamble but did proclaim "Under God the people rule" as the state motto...

Revisionist history is ongoing. There may well be similarities between English common law at the time that the colonists borrowed from it and pagan law, but that only serves to show that G-d's truths are universal truths. The basis for our Founders was their faith.
They were very clear about that.

Correction. One is the greatest success of government "of the people, by the people, for the people" ever seen in human history. The other is made up of "cheese-eating surrender monkeys" who delusionally think that they actually matter in the grand scheme of things.

What I concluded from these observations is that the people established a Constitution for the people that did not profess a belief in the existence of a God. However, the mere mention of religion makes it clear that the Constitution acknowledged that the nation’s citizens may have a belief in the existence of a God. To that end, the Constitution the people ratified ensured that the government would not be allowed to interfere with how the citizen chose to recognize his beliefs by way of his religion.

That's nice. But they were Enlightened enough to *not* insert their faith into the Constitution of the United States.

I think you confuse inserting doctrine with inserting faith.
Their faith told them that all men were created equal (despite the scandal of slavery).
Their faith told them that men had unalienable rights.
Their faith told them that government was a contract between the governors and the governed.
And their faith told them that faith could not be coerced and, therefore, should not be mandated by their government.

The equal protections afforded in Amendment XIV extend to all the states in that each citizen of each state has equal protection from acts of Congress per the restrictions placed by Amendment I.
