A Return to Triangulation (libertarion vs social right)
National Review Online ^ | 10/25/06 | David Boaz & David Kirby

Posted on 10/25/2006 11:10:46 AM PDT by Blackirish

As the Republican base fragments and Christian conservatives consider a “fast” from politics, the polling data point to a mid-term Republican thumping. Less than two weeks from now, Republicans will begin their post-mortem soul searching. And as the corpses of their House and Senate majorities grow cold, so should Karl Rove’s 2006 campaign strategy.

I've never really figured out just what a small "l" libertarian is. From my experience with them they are nothing more then someone with some sort of axe to grind with the GOP and hiding behind the LP. They all hide their particular grudge behind the "small l" label.

I've explained it to you personally countless times. Are you claiming that you have no axe whatsoever to grind with the GOP when it comes to small-government issues? Are you satisfied with the Medicare Prescription Benefit? No Child Left Behind? A small-l libertarian is a Republican who fights for a limited-government from within the party. JimRob has endorsed this strategy and supports Ron Paul's Republican Liberty Caucus and allows them to host their forum here on FR's servers.

And which Libertarian/libertarian candidate is polling anywhere above 2%?

Ron Paul is cruising to victory in his district. Mike Pence too.

Conservatism, and FR, truly needs more people like you.

I do, however, have a great problem with the Godless Marxist ACLU influenced big government forcing evolution theory, homosexuality, feminism, whacko environmentalism, earth worship, paganism, even Islamic fascism on our children in public schools while simultaneously trying to remove all mention of God and Christianity from their daily lives

Amen, and that's all Christians asked for too, in spite of protestations to the contrary.

And even many who aren't labeled Christians abhor the ACLU etc's war against Christianity. A war against Christianity is a war against all those who believe in God.

I'm not, and I don't like their war. It cannot be on a church/state separation principle for them, since I've never heard of them attacking Islam in the public square.

However, my anger towards them has to be tempered since I know they've won several cases on religious freedom for Christians. They aren't consistent.

So, to recap:
  1. Patrick Henry's homepage mysteriously disappears back in March.
  2. He and several others ask the mods & Jim Robinson what happened, thinking maybe it was either a software glitch, another member who had decided to break into his account & do some petty vandalism, or a rogue mod who decided to break into his account & do some petty vandalism.
  3. Patrick Henry restores his homepage, which soon disappears again.
  4. Again he & others ask the management of this website to look into the mysterious vandalism.
  5. No response from management.
  6. Now it's revealed that it was Jim Robinson himself who decided to secretly vandalize Patrick Henry's homepage, and to sit back and not say anything about it, but rather watch the little pissant members scurry around wondering what the hell happened and why the management of the world's premier conservative website aren't saying anything. Instead of doing something more professional, accountable and adult like warning/suspending/banning him and/or us.
  7. All this while, Jim Robinson was happily cashing Patrick Henry's quarterly checks.
  8. Now Jim Robinson wants us to know of his courageous action, while at the same time feigning ignorance of the whole incident.

IMO, this is the kind of professional, responsible management that we need to see more of at prominent conservative websites.

GIVE 'EM HELL, JIMROB! WOO HOO!!!

To: Ichneumon

The mods don't have access to the posters' profile pages. I do. And I've removed a few of them. Those that I have removed should take it as a warning (if I didn't ban them in the process).

Are you saying that you're the one who kept deleting PatrickHenry's homepage back in (March, IIRC)?

Yup.

I see. And so when he and several of us asked what the heck was going on - i.e. was this just a weird software glitch, or had some other member broken into PH's account to do a little vandalism, or had some petty tyrant mod or other PTB decided to up and rip down a member's homepage, or what, it was you who decided not to say word one?

To: jennyp

Actually, I only vaguely remember the incident. Chances are, I probably had them all on ignore which is probably better than banning the whole lot.

The ACLU is so consistently on the dark side that any good deeds they have done are under the category of "even a stopped clock". And, of course, their method of threatening small communities with crazy lawsuits solely to enrich their coffers is more than odious and anti-freedom. They are basically fuelled by taxpayer money, by shaking down one town after another.

Wasn't mysterious and wasn't vandalism. I sometimes pull posts. I sometimes pull profile pages. It's part of the job. Whether or not a poster is a donor doesn't enter into my moderating decisions. Like the man said, it happens.

So, what's the big issue anyway? PH's mysteriously disappearing homepage keeps popping up on other evos homepages anyway. It's not gone, just relocated in many different spots. I wonder why that was never mentioned?

When a post gets pulled, it says "Post removed by moderator". When you pull someone's homepage, it says "". There's absolutely no indication that management has done something deliberate. Then when PH & others tried to find out what happened, you said "".

Do you see the slightest problem with this scenario?
