John Kerry Responding to Republican Distortions, Pathetic Tony Snow Diversions and Distractions

Washington – Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerry’s comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:

“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.

Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.”

"Unbelievably sickening."He's digging his hole, deeper and deeper and deeper, and WON'T appologize.....

He's done, and he's stuttering and trying to hide. He's claiming games and distortion, and he's not "going to stand for it"

"It's a classic Republican playbook, and we're not gonna let them distort it"

"John McCain should ask for Dick Cheney for lieing"

What a wonderful way to refer to the Band Of Brothers. He stepped in it just before the election!

And by the way, if military service was so important (as a wedge against those who didn't), then how the bloody hell did an ADMITTED draft dodger and military loather win TWO presidential terms over two REAL military/war heroes? (Bush 41 and Bob Dole)

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

I always wondered why Clinton got a free pass for draft dodging while GWB got called a draft dodger for serving his country. These people are really twisted.

It seems as if left wing nutjobs are writing the copy on their press releases.

This is dripping with venom, hate and bile for all things conservative and Republican.

He is bringing up Rush Limbaugh completely gratuitously, as if only Rush would be mentioning this obviously offensive statement.

Not once does this statement even attempt to tell the soldiers and the heroes in Iraq and on the battlefront that he honors their service, not once does he attempt to amend his remarks. THAT I find even more repellent than his original comments which may have been simple foot-in-mouth disorder of a man who has a twisted view of our current war.

HE DOESN'T CARE. The Democrats DONT CARE. They doent care about the men and women in uniform and they dont care about the cause. THEY are uncaring unfeeling partisan political militants who are using the soldiers in Iraq and our whole war effort as a prop for their political agenda.

And that agenda is not about fighting the enemy abroad but at defeating their 'enemy within' the Republicans and Bush.

Power Uber Alles.

Insulting our soldiers and then changing the subject to himself. Typical Democratic standard operating procedure. They deserve an apology from Jean Francois Cheri. I forget. He still hasn't apologized for insulting our Vietnam Vets.

The young man shown in that picture does NOT have John Kerry's nose- who is it?

Or did someone maliciously photoshop the pic so that it would show a person with an ugly nose?

No way that this was a poorly worded attack on Bush. It was advice given to the audience he was speaking to ... a group of college students.

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

In the first sentence he is giving advice on how to avoid the alternative of the second sentence.

If you don't make the most of your education, don't study hard and don't do your homework you will not do well and will end up " Stuck In Iraq ".

This idiot is stuck in the 60's and 70's. Not a one the students has to go to Iraq unless they decide to volunteer.

I meant what I said before I had to say that I didn't mean it like I said it.

"I have been FUMING all morning after I saw that despicable piece of Dem flesh say what he did about our kids. Not only did he slap them, he slapped us parents. I don't feel like I failed my kid because she wanted to enlist. She was on her own, with a great job and was 25 yrs old at the time. And she made us so damn proud."

You are right ... and this insulting garbage partisan PR response is a sign that he doesnt apologize for it at all - he meant it.

Sure, he really meant to hit hard on Bush, but for these clowns, our own military and even our national security is mere 'collateral damage' in the pursuit of toppling Bush and the Republicans.

Newsflash for Cheri: he may have had buyers' remorse about the war for political reasons. The rest of us still support it because our country's cause is just and America is in this fight to win!

Cheri is afraid to debate our own soldiers. But he is not afraid to invent a straw man argument to insult them.

"I expect better than that from a fellow Gator."

Just speaking my mind.

I still think Kerry's comment was about Bush, not our soldiers.

It was a patty, stupid little insult that would have been lost in a sea of petty, stupid political insults if it we weren't making hay out of it.

My first reaction when I watched the clip was "I think he was talking about Bush." My second reaction was "Wow, they really cropped that video to make sure I didn't see anything that came before or after."

Sorry, but I still think Kerry's real meaning -- which was petty and stupid -- is being distorted into something monstrous.

And I also still think it could end up making us look bad (sort of the way Limbaugh's comments on Michael J. Fox -- dispite the fact that he immediately retracted them -- have been used to make us look bad).

Others will disagree, or call me a troll, or whatever. I just call 'em like I see 'em.

And the Gators will be national champs if they let Tebow start.

I think Kerry said exactly what he intended to say, and it was an insult to our military. I don't see how it can be interpreted as him talking about Bush.
