>i>Kerry is scheduled to fly to Pennsylvania tommorrow to stump for Bob Casey.

He'll stump on him and stamp him out.

"Man, the Swiftboat Veterans really did a number on this guys head!
He's just plain nuts."

LOL...Kerry was plain nuts before the Swift Boaters came along! They knew it and exposed it!! Where is his form 180 that he promised?

Well, I hope you're right, but I didn't see him compound the damage wrought on him or the democrats.

I saw a democratic campaign commercial disguised as a press conference.

A source close to Kerry tells NBC News that he was trying to make a "tough and honest joke" about Bush and that in the process he omitted two words which changed the intended meaning. Per the source, Kerry meant to say that he can't "overstress the importance of a great education" and that "if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy... You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq." Kerry mistakenly dropped the "getting us" from his initial remarks.

CNN: All about how Bush should appologize and why doesn't he?

My guess is that CNN will play Kerry's demand for an apology without playing his original comment.

Yes, I agree the first statement could be excused to some minor degree on fatigue and so forth, but the defense today is totally without any excuse at all

If and I'm being generous here .. But if he misspoke or whatever excuse he is now claiming

He STILL never apologized to the military for those comments at this presser

INSTEAD .. He was defiant, condescending, arrogant and belligerent

That will NOT fly with the American people and I can't wait to see how the other Dem leaders handle this one

Why is McCain the ONLY so far expressing outrage? Where is everyone elses outrage in Congress??

John Boehner, David Vitter of LA and Tom Reynold of NY have released apology demands. I'm sure many more will follow

House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) called on Senator John Kerry (D-MA) to apologize to the men and women serving in the U.S. military for the insulting and disparaging comments he made yesterday. Boehner issued the following statement:

“Senator Kerry’s comments were disrespectful and insulting to the men and women serving in our military. These Americans who are risking their lives in the fight against terrorism in Iraq deserve better than to have their service demeaned by a United States Senator. Our soldiers need John Kerry’s support, yet John Kerry offers nothing more than disparaging commentary.

“John Kerry should apologize and Democrat candidates across the country should publicly denounce them and demand that Senator Kerry apologize to the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces serving in Iraq.”

Yesterday, Kerry belittled the educational level of American troops when he told a gathering of students: “You know education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. And if you don’t you get stuck in Iraq.”

Here's David Vitter's:

The Honorable John F. Kerry
United States Senator
304 Senate Russell Building
Washington, DC 20510

Dear John:

I was dismayed to hear your recent comments about our military men and women in Iraq, suggesting that they are stuck there because they're uneducated, perhaps because they didn't work hard at their studies. I write to demand an immediate apology from you in light of those comments.

On October 30, 2006 at an appearance in California on behalf of Phil Angelides’ Governor Campaign, your comments were truly despicable and offensive. It's a slap in the face of all of our intelligent, dedicated, brave men and women in the military. Of course, there are many of these from Louisiana, whom I have the honor to represent. I take particular offense on behalf of them.

I interact with our fine military regularly, particularly those from Louisiana. I'm always struck by their courage, dedication, AND intelligence. It's an objective fact that our military today is better educated and trained than ever before. In light of this obvious reality, your comments suggest that either you don't interact with today's military in any significant way or, even more troubling; you have a basic and deep-seated contempt for them.

They aren't stupid, uneducated, or lazy. They're heroes. And they deserve your immediate apology.

Sincerely,
David Vitter
United States Senator

It would drive the MSM nuts if some prominent Republicans called for his resignation - even they couldn't ignore it. Let's hope...

Can we all email Bob Caseys campaign & tell them we're Dems & won't vote for him now? LOL

Should be interesting to see if Bob Casey avoids Ole Jungle Rot.

ABC News said his opponents were "claiming" he attacked the troops.

__________

Attack the opponents instead of reporting what happened. He said it.

Now basically, according to Kerry's explanation, he said study hard, or else you will end up being President.

Maybe THAT was what he was attempting to say in his pompous way, but he Freudian slipped REAL bad.

I saw a democratic campaign commercial disguised as a press conference.

Oh, it played well to Dems. But it will completely turn off the moderates most Dems need to win their races next week.

Kerry was doing this with his eye on the 2008 primaries. He could care less if he sandbags candidates this election.

Some people have posited that Brit has made it a point NOT to sound too much like a conservative...because of the allegations that FNC is a mouthpiece for President Bush...

The way he acted after this was over, kinda convinces me they are right...

Then they put up Robert Novak...that pretty much said this has set him up WELL for his POTUS run....so it was a good thing...blech

As giddy as the GOP base must feel over Kerry's debacle, this event is not a guarantee of the Pubs holding power come November 8th. The moral to this story is that possibly it has stopped Democratic election momentum. We still have to crawl through broken glass and vote en masse on November 7th.

On the contrary, Kerry just made up the minds of many Repubs sitting on the fence to come to the polls.
