It was funny and most of them knew we were mocking them. BTW, as you know, we have many more guns than they do.

They can't do an impeachment, the american people at large would hate it, and it would energize the republicans.

But by announcing ahead of time that they WON'T do it, they are acknowledging that all the stuff they've said the last six years was a lie, because if it was true Bush would DESERVE to be impeached.

Further, it enrages all those people who just gave them millions of dollars and thousands of hours of time making phone calls and walkng door to door, all in the belief that when the democrats won, they would impeach Bush, Cheney,and apparently the entire cabinet except for Norm Mineta.

Meanwhile, Pelosi is assuming she will be speaker of the house, but I don't know how she is positive all the new people will vote for her -- I guess it's a forgone conclusion, but it IS an election of the entire house, and it isn't a coronation. We were going to put Livingstone in the position and something came up and he dropped out, I suppose it could happen to her.

But assuming she is speaker, she's also apparently blocking all "hawk" democrats from having chairs, like Jane Harman (a sane democrat). This will certainly upset quite a few people with seniority, and should make independents think twice about democrat leadership.

It isn't easy running the country -- we saw the republicans botch it up pretty good the last couple of years, and I don't know if the democrats CAN do it worse but I have trouble imagining they will do it BETTER.

There is going to be lots of infighting and head-butting ahead within the party. It is going to be fun to watch this unfold...What I'm really looking forward to is when the big-money lefties get so pi$$ed at the 'rats that they start witholding some or all of their funding, or maybe even sending it to some looney left third party movement - that would really be fun.....

There is way more enthusiasm for impeachment here than at DU.

"Politically speaking, impeachment would be great for the GOP. It would help turn public opinion against the Dems Hillary."

The radicals are already fuming over impeachment plans being shelved. They want revenge and they want it right now. They also are going to want to cut off funding for the war right now but that's probably not going to happen on their time table. Soros and MoveOn committed big resources and they are going to want a quick return on their investments in terms of activist legislation. Well, there's going to be some disappointment there because conservatives can stil delay and block legislation (just like the Dems did) but the radicals won't want to hear any excuses on why their pet legislation is not getting through. And so on. The point is the stage is getting set for some hand to hand combat within the party. The Dems are not going to be one big happy familiy. This brings to mind Will Rogers' famous quote: I don't belong to any organized party, I'm a Democrat.

As a person who had some involvement in Clinton's impeachment, here are my impressions -

* Conyers is lying.

* Pelosi cannot be trusted.

* The hard-left faction of the Democratic Party is foaming at the mouth to get Bush impeached.

* A lot depends on whether the media play along.

The Dems won't impeach the President. Look what impeachment did for the Republicans. Not a damn thing.

"They will do investigations."

No. No. No. It's "oversight." To pave the way to find "common ground." /s

I think the Repubs should put together a "Impeach Hillary January 2008" Oversight Committee.

"the public will be convinced that there is no single law that Bush didn't break."

They already think that. Why do you think we lost the election?

It may be more dangerous if the DUmmies feel betrayed and that there's no chance of the 'Rats following through on impeachment...that serves in a way as a safety valve. Some of them could decide the only alternative left is a resort to violence. That character who tried to assault people at an Allen campaign event a few days before the election may not be the most extreme among the lot of them.

Oh, they would go for impeachment of Cheney, too, so they could make Nancy Pelosi the President. (shudder)

They might not even want too many investigations, as the truth might find a way out. They just like to talk smack to their nutty base. What they will do is stop things like nominations/confirmations, no one will get a vote. Say goodbye to any judges or other appointments.

"They know that this was a phyrric victory." That had me going for a minute. One of those words you have a good idea of what it means, but you need to double-check the meaning of to be sure. The mis-spelling just about made me lose my mind (time for bed I guess)...

pyrrhic

adj 1: of or relating to a war dance of ancient Greece; "pyrrhic dance movements" 2: of or relating to or containing a metrical foot of two unstressed syllables; "pyrrhic verses" 3: of or relating to or resembling Pyrrhus or his exploits (especially his sustaining staggering losses in order to defeat the Romans); "a Pyrrhic victory" n 1: a metrical unit with unstressed-unstressed syllables [syn: dibrach] 2: an ancient Greek dance imitating the motions of warfare

[I bet those idiots at DU are pissed. LOL]

They'll wake up one day and realize they've been used. The majority of voters have to become more savy than the manipulative politicians and MSM.
