Democrats to 'revisit' law creating border fence By Shaun Waterman UNITED PRESS INTERNATIONAL November 11, 2006 Democrats will look again at the legislation mandating 698 miles of fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border and might seek to scrap the plan altogether when they take control of Congress next year. Rep. Bennie Thompson, Mississippi Democrat, told reporters this week that he expected to "revisit" the issue when he becomes chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee in the 110th Congress. Mr. Thompson said the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) new border enforcement program, known as the Secure Border Initiative or SBI Net -- which includes monitors, cameras and other integrated surveillance systems -- is a viable alternative to fencing. "We might do away with it, or look at [integrating it into] SBI Net," he said. "A virtual fence rather than a real one."

The dismantling of this country has started. Cancellation of border fencing, next comes amnesty which Jorje will sign, then comes the prosecution of the members of this administration. What will pay for the new entitlement programs for our 'new' citizens will be increased taxes on middle and upper-middle income. Ballistic missile defense will be defunded, as will the F-22, Joint Strike Fighter, and any new weapons system except those that shoot humane munitions (rubber bullets?).
Our traditional allies will be abandoned and new false alliances with Islamic countries will be formed. It just gets worse from here....
The fence was nothing more than a feel-good gesture
Then why are your heroes, nancy pelosi and co., going to withhold already passed funding, if it was such a feel good measure.

Not really, not when you have both houses and the president. The only reason to worry about the media for them was reelection. All that they needed to do was put the right bills up and vote on them.
I deeply deeply admire George W Bush. But I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that he more than anyone else (including Democrats and MSM) is to blame. His softness on spending and immigration were at odds with the base. He should have led congress to do the right things and vowed to sign the bills when they came to his desk. He should have had more troops and gone after the terroists IN Iraq more aggressively. Our boys are like sitting ducks over there with poor rules of engagement. We need to be conducting CONSTANT and aggressive house to house searches for weapons. We ARE occupiers and I think that is fine. Until we act like that we are also targets. Why did we have to clear Faluja 2, 3 times. ENOUGH with this namby pamby soft shoe pedling of things. It's time the Republicans started getting the job done. I am a Republican and will die one. But I expect OTHER Republicans to act like it too.
So I can pay virtual taxes with Monopoly money rather than real money?
If George W. Bush had honored and fulfilled his oath of office, on Sept. 12, 2001, he would have immediately:
placed military troops on the Mexican border;
added 10,000 border patrol agents to guard against lawless crossings;
built a fence along the border (had he started then, it would be in place now!);
instructed border patrol agents to arrest, prosecute and jail employers of illegal aliens;
stop the massive abuse of Amendment 14 that allows millions of women to cross our borders and give birth to an illegal child for immediate welfare;
instructed Congress to bring him a bill that stopped massive migration from the Third World;
demanded Congress rework the 1965 Immigration Reform Act; and
stopped 20 million illegals from causing horrific havoc to our schools, medical systems, language, jobs, communities, and traffic with gangs, drugs, domestic abuse, rapes, welfare fraud, and a host of other calamities visited upon America.
Had Bush and Congress done their jobs, we would have "a day without illegal aliens":
We wouldn't suffer 25 American deaths daily by illegal aliens who kill 13 of us on our own highways and another 12 deaths from gun and knife violence.
We wouldn't have 16,000 new cases of tuberculosis, 7,000 cases of leprosy, countless thousands of cases of hepatitis, dengue fever, Chagas disease, and all the new AIDS cases.
We wouldn't be paying $2 billion annually for "anchor babies."
American workers would be paid a living wage.
We wouldn't have 618,000 convicted felons in our prisons at an annual cost of $1.6 billion.
We wouldn't have thousands of illegals committing car thefts, insurance fraud, driving while drunk and ID theft.
We wouldn't have 11,000 MS-13 gang members operating in 33 states, distributing $100 billion in drugs to our children.
We wouldn't have $60 billion in cash transferred out of our country annually.
We wouldn't have Muslim terrorists embedding themselves in our country.
Our schools could teach our kids in English and cause a 67 percent dropout rate in high schools.
We wouldn't have Mexican flags marched through our streets by disloyal and subversive illegal aliens.
Employers couldn't cheat, lie, steal, and hire illegals for obscene amounts of money.
Thousands of towns like Hazelton, Pa., wouldn't have to be making laws to protect its citizens.
All of this and more, had Mr. Bush and the Congress done their jobs and honored our U.S. Constitution and the rule of good old American law. It's all the difference between illegal and legal.
Tony, you owe us here at FR who have always been your supporters and well wishers in those darker times an explanation and clarification.
And it isn't even remotely nessessary to explain what Bush thinks.
We already have a handle on that one, thank you.

You worked hard for the democrats who are now going to defund the barrier.

OK, genius, why do the democrats want to defund this so-called non-existant fence.
No. I think you misunderstood my post. I worked for the bastards who waited until the last minute to realize that there was a border problem. I worked for these RINO jerks who sold the rest of us down the river.
Well the jerks are the democrats, who are going to defund the fence.
President Bush needs to do what Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton did when faced with a congress of the opposition party. Reagan and Clinton drew a line in the sand, set out their priorities and told congress that as long as they got most of what they wanted, the opposition party in congress could have a little of what it wanted, but if the bill contained anything otherwise they would happily veto it.
That's why it was IDIOTIC for President Bush to come out and say he would sign a minimum wage increase. He should have let the democrats know behind closed doors that he would sign the minimum wage increase IF he got all the military funding he requested and/or his judges confirmed, otherwise it would be vetoed.
The same goes for the Republicans in the senate. With the loss of Chafee and Dewine the RINO's are down to McCain, Grahame, Collins, Snowe, and Specter. This gives Republicans 40-44 conservative votes they need to filibuster ANY legislation the party deems too liberal.
Veto and Filibuster - The two words we need to here a lot of over the next two years. It only take Bush and the Republicans growing a spine. Of course Republicans will be trashed a lot by CNN and the New York Times for "obstruction" but, so what, those organizations are going to hate you no matter what you do
Now you got nancy pelosi defunding the fence, maybe you should look in the mirror on who to blame.
