Dawkins is riding the crest of an atheist literary wave.

DAWKINS: The question of whether there exists a supernatural creator, a God, is one of the most important that we have to answer. I think that it is a scientific question. My answer is no.

How's about you believe what you want to believe and I'll believe that the Bible has always been relevant and will be forever. I believe in it's God breathed inerrancy and the literal reading is exactly how it is meant to be read. You can't accept the parts that you like and throw out the parts you don't. If God says it, that is sure good enough for me. Period

God AND Science. Right on. After all, He created it.

Our view of the Universe and time can be likened to the little reminder in side view mirrors, "OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR"

Extremely well said. One of the best replies I've ever read on FR. Was this your own formulation or should I be referred to its source? I will most certainly make use of it either way.

One theologian presented something similar - that beings can only "see" others on its level or below. E.g., an ant cannot see - know - humans.

Now that's a fairly lame thought - I've been bitten numerous times by ants, mosquitoes, and other bugs. Those certainly weren't biting the "unseen" and they "knew" me as FOOD..

Dawkins has a god complex.

Ironic isn't it?

God doesn't compete with anyone or anything.
God certainly doesn't need defending.
Anyone who disagrees with God is wrong. It doesn't matter a hill of beans if you and I disagree.
God doesn't need us to "fight" for Him or His meaning in His Word sir.
My beliefs are God given and don't need defending. I'd never be able to do Him justice.
I'm not running away from anything. I'm running to my Lord. And just as hard and fast as my little legs will carry me (when He's not carrying me).
God is His own proof - and that is not circular reasoning.
I may not be "educated" enough for you but what does that matter in the grand plan of God. He accepts me just as I am. (Hey, that sounds like a great name for a Hymn)
God is not a concept.
He is Spirit and doesn't require proof. Just faith.

I'll believe that the Bible has always been relevant and will be forever.

So will I. But I don't pretend to completely understand all that is written there.

the literal reading is exactly how it is meant to be read.

How do you know that for sure?

You can't accept the parts that you like and throw out the parts you don't.

I don't want to throw out anything; I am trying to understand what is written in appropriate context. What is important is the ultimate truth not isolated literal details (like all of creation being completed in 7 earth days - that is clearly myth)

If God says it, that is sure good enough for me. Period

How do you know that all the writers of the Bible got God's word correctly? Were they perfect? Did they ascend as Jesus did? No. The only totally accurate spiritual communication is from God directly to you.

Men may claim so but God doesn't think or way so. He clearly tells us otherwise.

Psalms 9:1-2 The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.

Romans 1:19-20 ...because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

IDers are going to have to fine tune their mechanism of detecting intelligent design.

You mean something MORE obvious that the order and complexity of the natural world that stares us in the face every day? The very thing that is absolutely essential for science to even exist? Are we not expected to believe that science is a result of intelligence because IT is orderly and complex? What would happen to a scientist if he did a sloppy experiment, one that was not orderly or complex, and submitted it for peer review?

How much do we know about the universe? Probably next to nothing. Then how can anyone say that something cannot exist?

In order for someone to definatively state that something does not exist, they would have to have all knowledge of everything in existance for all time and eternity to know that for sure. I don't think we're there yet.

I can't imagine anyone who hates God so much begging to be let into heaven. He may beg not to be thrown into hell however...

at that point.

Then they *knew* wrong because people aren't ant food. Tell me, what about humans beings are ants capable of understanding?
