My aunt and uncle sent this out to our family at 6:30 AM today. Carrie is my young cousin, a very gifted artist, and the second eldest among her siblings. She and her family are in Michigan.
Prayer reqeust from my aunt and uncle (Carrie is their granddaughter).
This morning on her way to work Carrie's car slid on the highway and into a tree. She has very bad injuries, especially to her head. Her brain is swelling and she is now in surgery. They plan to open her skull to allow for the swelling, and she is not responding. They don't give her parents a lot of hope. We are telling everyone so you can join us in praying for our dear Caroline. They called her parents about 7:45 this morning and they're at the hospital now.
To Carrie’s Mom and Dad,
Was thinking about you today. Hoping to hear how Carrie was doing. Having spent a few days in a hospital , but fortunately not recently, I always thought that it was really a tough place to spend time when you are not feeling well, with all of the routines you go thru.
As a Parent , I know alot about perserverance. I am glad Carries neck brace is off , and will be thinking about you Tuesday as she goes into Surgery.
I pray for you and Carrie. Keep letting us know how it is going.
Oh, I am so sorry. I pray that Carrie will recover and that the family will be comforted. In the Name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, Amen.
It's good that this is being done.
and she is not responding.
That's normal at this stage. People with brain swelling can be unresponsive for weeks and still pull through.
Thank you for the update! Prayers continue...
Prayers for Carrie continue.
Prayers for Carrie and the family ~P~
Prayers continue
From my auntFrom Carrie's sister, LM just received a call after a blood test was repeated today. The surgery tomorrow has been cancelled. M didn't know the reason. She has a lot of questions and is pleased that their family doctor had planned to make his first visit after work today. D got home home in time to talk with the doctor too.
Carrie's oxygen in her blood is low. Her lungs sound clear and she hasn't had to have a whole lot of suctioning. They need to have guidance on this new medicine and what it's for, when to give it, and how it affects Carrie.
M has had quite a long day--making calls and answering the phone, trying to get supplies, helping the nurse, many things to accomplish--laundry, etc. Dad and I were gone on errands. We'll keep you informed. Now we are anxious that this surgery is accomplished, of course. But we want it to be done at a good time for Carrie's needs and good health.
Love,
[my aunt]
Carrie was intended to have surgery tomorrow morning to replace the skull flap that was removed the morning of the accident. After todays blood test, the doctors have cancelled surgery. Their reasoning is not certain, although we can speculate it is due to Carries low oxygen level in her blood. She is on new medication which should increase the level of oxygen.
Jesus, we come to you as our Prince of Peace. You see the end from the beginning and are fully aware of this small setback. Provide the strength and grace the family needs now, and cause Carries oxygen level to rise to a healthy level. You are the great creator. Thank you for the healing you have already brought. AMEN.
Lots of thanks for your thoughts and prayers from a grateful big sister.

Continued prayers for Carrie, her family and the medical people caring for her and making the critical decisions. There can never be enough prayers!

How true, and something about which we need to remind oourselves often.
I know it must be very frustrating to have the surgery cancelled...but, it is better safe than sorry, if they think it at all could put her in danger.
My goodness, just reading about their day wears me out...Prayers that they can get some help so that they don’t get too over stressed...and over tired.
thanks for the update..
