Okay, this is terrible but all I'm picturing now is John Belushi.

Either a crummy sword or lousy technique (thankfully). A real sword, especially a shinken, is 30" of razor and will take off parts with every stroke.

Either a crummy sword or lousy technique Probably a bit of both. Good swords are quite pricey and the regular ones you get over the internet tend not to take or hold and edge very well.

Really. I agree. I don't think there are editors anymore to correct bad grammer and wrong use of words.

Some of them are barely sharp at all. Meant more to hang on the wall for decoration. (It was a good thing in this case).

Could be a garden variety machete. This kid could have been on prescribed meds or who knows what...

Makes it sound as if the swordsman was the victim.A child victim of handgun violence. Let's call Sarah Brady.

I have a real sword. It is a hand forged Scottish Basket Hilted Claymore. It is honed to a razor edge. It can bend over 50 degrees ( as much as I dare) and snap back as straight as a light beam.
A real sword is a fearsome weapon but most people treat them as jokes. If this kid was using a crappy cast bladed pseudo sword, and was untrained, you can imagine the damage that can be done with a real sword in the hands of someone who knows how to use one.
I am curious on the kind of blade he used, from a forensic poinit of view. To use a sword to kill and cut, you have to be really quite dedicated to follow through. I wonder what had set this untrained kid off to be able to actually do it. I am sure there is a lot more to this story.
Was the international student boffing Mom or something?

All swords should be registered. I will not rest until they are ALL eventually banned.

More information is needed.
Is the foreign exchange student male or female?
Was the boy with the sword on drugs?
Strange story.
