The Half Hour News Hour (vanity)
FreeRepublic | 02-19-07 | Alia

Posted on 02/19/2007 5:29:54 AM PST by Alia

I've checked and seen nothing posted about the premier pilot of the 1/2 Hour News Hour on this forum.

I want more of this show. I laughed throughout.

The satire was crisp, delivery was very good.

The best thing about parodies and satires which grab at one's funny bone is that they are true and factual. The jabs delivered last night were true and factual. And Real.

I and my family enjoyed the 1/2 Hour News very much, and wish it were more than 1/2 hour long -- and covering the range of "news du jour".

How about you?

It touched my funnybone but I thought it was another way to blur and confuse the real news. Sorry but....the MTV crowd will think it real. "Fair and balanced" will be their silly issue.

I saw the t-shirt segment and thought it was stupid. Maybe the rest of the show was better.

They can't film in front of a live audience....Libs would constantly disrupt it.

Not if they have to take the Snerdly test before entering the studio.

There was no laugh track, they had a live audience who laughed. I thought it was excellent.

I liked it, especially the BO Magazine bit. The two newscasters need to relax a bit, not chew the scenery so much.

The Rush and Ann administration must have drove libs cross-eyed.

It was OK. Agree on the irritating laught track and I missed Rush and Ann - but I hope it did drive some libs intp a sleepless night with nightmares.

The one really funny part was the BO Magazine - they need to print it.

I thought it fell flat. There was nothing very clever to the scripts, IMO.

Then again, I was expecting something more like SNL from the 1970s era.

Regardless, I hope it does better.

But don't you think that it did NOT ignore political correctness, and that was the beauty of the show? I do.

It championed Political Correctness and this what made it so funny!

Now tell me, you didn't laugh good and hard at the "Global Warming" linguistic, free association competition winner of various game shows!

LOL!

"The seals were barking so loud, the workers couldn't get any sleep" and "that's why oil prices have risen".

While I got a few chuckles out of it, I thought overall the humor was a little awkward, perhaps too contrived. They had some good ideas, but didn't execute them well.

I think the writers should read FR more for inspiration. We've got some very funny posters!

Missed it. What FNC should also consider is a 1 hour show for a talk radio host, like Glen Beck's show on CNN (an awesome substitute for Shepherd Smith re-run of the day's news).

Can Greta's show and give Ann Coulter the slot, with recurring visits from El Rushbo, etc.

It took 21 replies .... I cringed at the cigar joke.

That's our over-exclaimed Ann and I was embarassed for her to be a part of that skit.

The clips of the show I saw look OK to me. Thanks for showing some brains by waiting till the show was over to review it, unlike others here on yesterday's thread;

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1787108/posts

I heard some radio host mention that the show would reair today but I can find no TV listing of such happening.

Not if they have to take the Snerdly test before entering the studio.

roflmao! I got to observe Mr. Snerdly live in a booth at Dan's Bake sale. His eyes kept scanning the crowds. I was reminded of gargoyles guarding the church. :)
