The 800 Pound Gorilla Arrives (semi-auto gun ban proposed in Congress by Dems)
Massachusetts Firearms Interest Group ^ | 2/21/07

Posted on 02/21/2007 7:55:16 AM PST by pabianice

FYI - First Look... tells me what I had already postulated: its going to cause a stampede of firearms off the shelves in huge numbers where still to be had - probably why this HR-1022 took a week to surface. See Section 4. Part 'D' in the descriptions catches everything with pistol grip + detachable magazines. It also seems to create a gun tracking function in the last section.

This is it - it gets the all AR clones, Aramalite 10s', Kel-Tecs, Bushmasters and the old usual suspects and this time with NO sunset. They wont make that mistake twice...

And if that Senator from New York wins... but first, can we ask she submits to a chromosome test.

There going to be a war in & with the media, and with NRA/GOA in there somewhere I hope. Since the old AW Ban can now be proven to have had no effect on gun crime perhaps theres a small bit of hope . but dont count on it stopping the media from rallying the masses of sheep. If, after this become Law and they check the support levels - they will go for high-cap pistols. Find it interesting they did not specify FN PS-90s, FN-57s or FS-2000's but they do get caught in Definitions (D).

"The Battle Lines Need To Unanimous or Divided We All Lose ..."

ps. Toldya to watch the buzz-phrase "SEMIAUTOMATIC ASSAULT WEAPONS"!

Filibuster? There are no more filibusters.

What's called a "filibuster" now amounts to, during session hours, calling the speaker scheduled to take the floor and say "are you filibustering?" "yes" and nobody shows up, and everybody goes home at the end of the day, and other business is addressed in the meantime.

True filibusters, where the speaker (individual or group) actually speaks 24/7 until they can't stand it anymore and nothing happens in the meantime, don't exist now.

Apparently, the only thing democrats know how to do with a gun, even metaphorically, is shoot themselves in the foot.

Nope, that's part of the plan. Sure you can keep yours. You just can't get another one, and it becomes a hassle to sell yours. With availability strictly limited, market prices for used items rise to the point they're practically off the market.

The most successful bans don't get interesting. They just make things excessively expensive and dull.

On the plus side, it is in part what cost Gore and the rats the election in 2000. So let the stupid bastards fire up gun owners again. They'll never learn and we need all the help we can get in getting out the vote.

Any purchase recommendations?

That's a serious question, not being snide -- I'm fairly new to "assault weapons" (MSM term, not mine) and welcome all information and knowledge about buying recommendations.

Speaking of Filibusters, the one man who can stop this in it's tracks is Mitch McConell. What's his NRA rating?

If you live in New Jersey then I believe your legal options are limited. I'm sure others around here would know the sad details of your state's gun restrictions.

Sure, Get the most bang for your buck Pick up an AK (you can get 2 or 3 for the price of an AR-15). AKs, while not as accurate as an AR, are more reliable, and easier to maintain. If you get the 7.62x39 variants the ammo will be cheaper than 5.56mm ammo for the ARs too. 7.62x39 ammo can be had for about $170 for 1000 rounds. Get as much as you can afford.

Don't forget to pick up as many 30 or 40 rd mags as you can get too. Currently Sportsmans Guide has them for around $7 each.

E-mailed my Rep last night. Asked him to do what he could to see this never comes out of committee. Told him that there are those of us who actually pay attention to what the folks in Congress are up to and to please do the right thing.

Legislation like this needs to die. Even purposing it should be considered a violation of the oath of office if not outright treason.

Damn these leftists! they can't wait to seize all legal guns and leave illegal guns in the hands of criminals. It's because criminals are the "underclass" and law-abiding people are "oppressor class"

he following ratings are based on lifetime voting records on gun issues and the results of a questionaire sent to all Congressional candidates; the NRA assigned a letter grade (with A+ being the highest and F being the lowest).

"There is no 10-year sunset clause on this one."

"SEC. 2. REINSTATEMENT FOR 10 YEARS OF REPEALED CRIMINAL PROVISIONS RELATING TO ASSAULT WEAPONS AND LARGE CAPACITY AMMUNITION FEEDING DEVICES."

Then what is Section 2 referring to?

True -- I know the "legal" options are limited here....

I also know the wonders of a length of sealed PVC and a sturdy shovel!
