LOS ANGELES It's a role so easy, even a caveman can do it.
A sitcom based on the Geico insurance cavemen ads is being developed for ABC, the Hollywood trade publication Variety reported.
The comedy would be about three cavemen living in modern-day Atlanta who are battling caveman-oriented prejudice, just as they do in the commercials, according to Variety.
The writer of the "so easy, even a caveman can do it" spots is also writing the sitcom.

The majority of commercials I find annoying.
Depends on whether they cast Alan Colmes for one of the parts.
Satirizing the professionally offended self-appointed victim spokesman will support a line of commercials, but it's a thin reed for a full television program.
I do too, in the sense that I see the the Geico caveman as an apt replacement for the Democrat Party's mascot.
"a half-hour one-joke based show"
Kinda like "Alf?" (do I have trhe right title for that show?)
I dunno... I still like it.
I was thinking this morning about how clever the Geico commercials have been since they stopped using that maximally annoying thing about the good news is I started saving on my insurance.
Amen!
I confess, I love the commercials too. The one with the guy on the people mover in the airport.....? Just cracks me up!
"Can't wait to see who gets cast for Tina."
I guess I missed that one? Is she hot?
You aren't the only one.
Yeah. It's funny in small doses.
Am I the only one that finds this disturbing? Not the show, just the appearance of those . . . things.
The theme song has to be Thus Spoke Zarathustra.
How about a sitcom for the Slowskys?
I like the one where the caveman is with the therapist and his cell phone rings. He says "it's my mother, I'll put it on speaker".
You never see her. Two of the cavemen are at a party on a deck or patio and the third comes out and says "Tina's here..we're getting back together". I think these commercials are great.
I'm sure they'll cast one of them as a homo.
