Your 541. Cops saying “no arrests.” I saw the guy on all fours in custody. Is he now non-existent?

Has it occurred to you that the person you saw on all fours might not have been 'in custody, but was being PROTECTED by the police? He may have been running to safety and fell down, to be 'covered' by the officers.

That's the problem with snapshots and initial reports. They don't often tell the real story, and then later, when the real story does come out, folks think those are the lies because they don't support what had been initially reported. The press conference going on now is maddening, because the reporters keep throwing the 'reports' up at the police, and the police are trying to put out any facts that they have, and when those few facts don't comport with the rumors, the reporters get mad. That only puts the police and the college administration on the defensive, and makes the situation even worse.

I’m not a believer of the “jihad” theory, but with the boyfriend/girlfriend “first hand” accounts, I have a question...how can they know they were boyfriend and girlfriend, and yet the identity of the gunman be unknown? Seems if the “first hand” account tellers knew they were boyfriend/girlfriend, they should have a clue as to the guy’s identity.

I’m not sure if it was ever intended to really function—rather, it exists as a legitiming myth. A rationalist version of the divine right of kings.

A society is built on certain principles, that when taken literally and without moderation, spell the end of that civilization. The underlying principle of the USA is liberty; when liberty is taken to excess and becomes license (as unregulated weaponry would be, in my mind), then the damage done to the State is mortal.
= = =

Interesting contentions.

Most FREEPERS consider The Constitution pretty sacrosanct—and with good cause. It was hammered out through a process involving a lot of very reasoned and educated thought from a lot of hard experience in a fairly brutal world.

The framers and signers of The Constitution certainly created it to function and function well. Were idiot globalist judges not mangling it right and left, it would still function well. As it is, it too often seems on life-support. FREEPERS are earnestly and sometimes desperately trying to change that back to a smoother, more FREEDOM LOVING good functioning.

Yes, The Bible says that the letter of the law kills but The Spirit brings liberty. Certainly HARXIST and her other globalist/Marxist/socialist idiot tyrant friends are intent on trashing our Constitution and our culture and even the Nation that gave them birth in favor of a global tyrannical government.

Withholding guns from freedom loving people in this Nation and clearly against the Constitution is NOT a good way to protect liberty at all.

As for me, and my house, in addition to serving The Lord, we shall protect and uphold the Constitution and every patriotic citizen’s right to own and be prepared with guns and ammo—to the best of our ability as long as we have breath and energy to do so.

We don’t take kindly to folks lobbying against such.

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. I withdraw my observation on your perspicacity, which is officially None of My Business.

OTOH, I'm not married YET, which means I can share my perspicacity freely.

However, I think you’ve observed several points that lead me to expect that, eventually, reasonable people will recognize this as a jihadist terrorist attack.

I dunno, the only part that has me leaning that way is the inability of the cops to ID the guy.

A student would be SOOOOO Identified by now.

Saying 15 are being treated, I wonder if the killed include those who died in the hospital later. first count was 22 dead and then rose 32. The original count of wounded was 28

The problem in that case, if you want to start cancelling classes and turning people away, is simple. How do you get the information out? I didn’t even know they had loudspeakers on campus, but apparently, they do. So that might take care of people on campus, but what about the fifteen thousand students that live off-campus? It’s not like it’s snowing, or some obvious situation that people would be listening to determine whether or not to come to VT that day.

With regard to security, I don’t know what the VT campus police department is like. All I have to go on is my campus PD from twenty years ago, and honestly, I wouldn’t have trusted those guys to investigate ANYTHING. They wrote parking tickets. That’s it. On the very few occasions that something serious happened, the local town PD did the work. Maybe VT’s cops are better. But I seriously doubt they’ve got a fraction of the resources that even a small-town PD like Blacksburg, or the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, can deploy.

I just don’t see how you can truly defend against something like this without turning the campus into a prison. The logistics border on the impossible.

"I don’t think the constitution really works. It has to be stretched and altered in order to reflect reality. I’m not sure if it was ever intended to really function—rather, it exists as a legitiming myth."

Wow. I hope you are joking.

The Shooter is responsible for the shootings, NOT the College or the Police.

Personal RESPONSIBLITY People! Granted we live in an area of “Government should be responsible for everything” age, but that is BS. IMHO, BLAME THE SHOOTER! Unless you are Psychic or have a magic 8 ball, there is NO WAY you can predict this sort of random Chaos, let alone figure out a way to prevent acts of random chaos and violence!

The SHOOTER is responsible. No one else.

"You get to tell me what my words mean, what I am thinking? That sounds like wild speculation to me."

Please lighten up a bit; if I didn't like this site, I wouldn't be here. In a way my comment ("wild speculation") was a joke, an obvious exaggeration, but also partly true: after several hours and about 2,000 posts, about the only thing we know for certain is that more than 30 people were shot and killed on the VT campus. And already, several conspiracy theories and cover-up allegations have been trotted out.

Maybe...but the press has become so confrontational and antagonistic towards anyone anymore...

I can’t believe how rude some of the press are.

There is no reason for them to have some of the answers yet...and why they feel they have to blame someone other than the shooter at this point...is ridiculous.

I grew up in Idaho and I didn't want to do every one when Mary Jane Rotten Censored dumped me. There are patterens when people do people.

The Gov has been protecting us from ourselves, afraid we might go wild, since the Okla bombings, 880, 369, LAX, Seattle, San Francisco. A free government might want us to decide the issues ourselves.

I heard him say that, too, but I can’t understand it.. I remember Columbine, but not that. How can that be?

Yes you are right. I have worked in a university system and also in two federal penitenaries. The “u” system is not geared to “lockdowns” as a penitenary would be.
