Your post just said it all. But, afterall, Fred Thompson is an actor and though there are MANY more conservatives that would be better candidates and you could understand the hysteria, I see another George Allen in the making. Fred Thompson will be an acceptable conservative on most issues, but will turn out to be a major disappointment as candidate and leader, if he actually was so sure a thing for election. More of the same. Duncan Hunter remains exactly the kind of man this country needs and has the spine that Fred and the others lack. But his name doesn’t stand out because he’s not an actor! If Fred gets the nomination I don’t want to see Hunter on the ticket. Thompson can run on his own and go down on his own. And the derisiveness toward Hunter’s candidacy is enough that they should not have the audacity to want him to pick up for Thompson’s faults. Find another VP. Same old, same old GOP.

Fred Thompson can pick someone else as VP. Thompson should run on his own and not be shown to be the lesser candidate on the ticket.

Thanks for posting the link.

Frankly I am disappointed in the interview. Hannity's questions were very soft, as were Fred's answers. I learned nothing new, nor would I think anyone that was watching. Hannity has been much more agressive with other candidates, including Rudy and McCain. With the Rudy interview, Hannity pushed Gulliani to admit whether or not he was running - and that was like in February or so.

In the intro, Hannity claims he will "talk about (Thompson's) potential run for the Witehouse" - yet what they did was talk ask about running for President in a generic sense. There was nothing specific to the subject of "Many conservative are disappointed with the current field of GOP candidates...Are you running and why would you be a better choice?"

And the absence of pointing out how he is different than the others was striking. This is valuable face time, and regardless of his intentions, you would think Thompson would want to get that out there. Instead he appears like all of the others. I did not hear how Fred was better than others due to his positions on issues, nor did I hear anything beyond lite retoric on the war on terror. Harry Reid is an easy target, and several other candidates have already stepped out in front on this issue in a much stronger way. In fact, we got the same rhetoric that we have heard from Bush - we are all in this together and the Democrats are going to contribute to the solution.

The only impression I got was he is still considering a run...but why he really thinks he can make a difference escapes me after watching it.

I saw Thompson debate Houston in his Senate run years back, and that was an impressive showing. But I think this interview was awful and does not give one any more feel for his decision to run, nor if he is ready to challenge the front runners.

And we’re clamoring all over a SENATOR? (And I’ve heard the argument over and over again right herethat a Senator can’t win a presidential election).

You can throw that old cannard out the window if it's former Senator Thompson vs. Senator Clinton or Senator Obama someone from the Senate will be President.

You're right about Romney though. The problem with him is that his social conservative credentials are a little thin...no matter what he says today. In 1994 he ran to the left of Ted Kennedy fr that Senate seat. One gets the feeling that he's willing to say whatever he thinks his audience wants to hear. I don't completely trust him and I'm not sure that he's a real conservative.

Great way to choose a President, heh?

It is all about how they look and feel. Barry Hussein Obama has it made!

Ooooops, scratch that last comment...he is (gasp-cough) an eeeevil smoker!

Let’s set the facts straight. You said per the Fox news article, Reid never said the war is “lost”. The article DOES NOT contain everything he said, but the quote under the headline sure says it. And every MSM, etc. says the same thing.

“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Thursday said the war in Iraq is lost militarily and “can only be won diplomatically, politically and economically” after more than four years of fighting”.

Lying is a false statement made with deliberate intent.

Seriously, there is a good temporary solution and I’m not joking here. It was commonly used by my coworkers when I was a flight attendant. It is NOT meant to be a “makeup” product but it works very well. Something that might be needed after a short layover with not enough rest......just don’t know that I want to mention it in this forum.

Coke?

I just checked Netflix, and it’s not there.

I also checked Netflix for "Marie", which was Fred's first movie role, playing himself. It's not there either. I remember seeing it in the mid-80's, and was impressed with Fred then, as I was impressed with him back during the Watergate hearings.

Sean is going to ask if he’s going to run. He knows Fred isnt’ going to announce. But it will be great to see Alan’s face.

I was very upset that Colmes wasnt included in the interview. I realize these political people have busy schedules, but I want to hear both sides. If they want their voices heard by both sides of the political spectrum, they should set aside time to be interviewed by both. I am always suspicious when someone only gets interviewed by just Sean or just Alan. In my opinion it doesnt paint them in good light. I also love seeing Colmes make an ass of himself. With that said, I truly hope Fred runs.

Barbour would be a good Cheney style VP — 100% ready to step in if necessary, not a preener grooming himself to be the next president like Quayle, Gore, and Edwards. Not that there’s anything wrong with Dan Quayle, but they hung him with that heir apparent rap.
