Senator [Hillary Rodham Clinton] wants pre-K for all 4-year-olds
kvoa.com ^ | 5-21-2007 | Staff Writer

Posted on 05/21/2007 7:40:07 AM PDT by bedolido

WASHINGTON (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton is ready to propose a new federal plan that would offer high-quality preschool to every 4-year-old in America.

The Democratic presidential candidate says the universal Pre-K plan would cost about ten billion dollars. Speaking on NBC's "Today Show," she said evidence shows such preschool programs save money in the long run -- and that students have fewer behavioral problems and stay in school longer.

The New York senator says she'd pay for universal preschool by closing tax loopholes and eliminating Bush administration programs she disagrees with. The proposal would give federal funds to states that establish a plan for making voluntary pre-kindergarten services available for all.

She's presenting the proposal today at a Miami Beach elementary school.

Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton D-N.Y., right, walks into the commencement with Joyce Roche, chairman of the board of trustees at Dillard University in New Orleans Saturday, May 19, 2007.

Sounds like an early indoctrination program to me. Sort of the "Hillary Youth" movement.

Sigh, short selling your own kids unfathonable.

Well, it says right there in the article it's high quality.  Who could disagree with that?  Hopefully it'll be mandatory and far more expensive than originally thought.

"high-quality preschool"

not just regular pre-school, but 'high quality'

Just like the 'high quality' government run regular school system?

and all other 'high quality' government programs

I like Ann C's take? This isn't about indoctrination, but about creating more paying liberal union members.

One of our town's greatest Christian ministries are the many low cost Christian pre schools. This program would destroy the only chance thousands have to receive Christian teaching before they are thrown to the public school leftists.

But of course! In order to kill off any traditional or cultural sense of family, you have to take the babies away from the parents. Communist Russia and Communist China dictated the definition of “family” to their people, and that is what HClinton wants for the U.S.

I want to see her thesis from Smith College...the original, not the phony one that her Leftie cohorts switched after seeing what the Swiftboats did to John Kerry. I”ll bet my eye teeth that it is a Communist Manifesto that even Stalin would be envious of...

That isn’t the case with Head Start is it? Staying in school longer and having fewer behavioral problems?

On the other hand, Head Start is really just federalized child care.

What a mess. Yeah, great idea, let’s spend more money on something that doesn’t work already.

Such an evil and hypocritical generation she belongs to.

Rampant drug use was OK then (smoking and drinking goes without saying was OK too); now, ban smoking everywhere, random pee test high school kids, and have German Shepherds patrol the lockers for pot.

Their moms back then had dozens of kids, abortion was unspeakable, and the 50s and 60s were very kid-friendly; now, as parents, they themselves now abort more kids than they bear and child abuse and molestation is at record levels.

Back in the day they demanded curricular reform, griped about tough courses and grading, demanded 'relevance' and of course enjoyed long, free summer vacations; but for their kids, they push for year round school, mandatory all day kindergarten, now all day nursery school, lockstep indoctrination including sex ed, homo ed, etc., and medicate or expel any kid who chafes at the totalitarian bit or tries to pray.

An evil and adulterous generation. Horrible hypocrites. Hillary is the archetype of the wretched narcissistic communist Boomers.

Well...it is a fact that children who attend Montessori school do much better in school than those that wait and go directly to kindergarten.

I'm not saying I agree with Hillary Clinton. She can burn in hell...sooner the better.

I agree church sponsored day care centers are better than ones grafted onto public school systems. Our two children, now adults, went to an Evangelical Protestant day care and we were very happy on the kind, loving and well thought out activities. Good and kind treatment by teachers who were good examples to the kids was their ministry, not jamming religion at the kids. That God and Christ existed and want us to be better humans was understood as part of the day and activities. Also, the kids did a wonderful Christmas show every year with those timeless carols.

Words cannot convey how much I loathe this woman. She is evil incarnate. Yet people will fall for stuff like this because it is packaged as being ‘good for the children’. You see it happen everywhere- not just the poor or single mothers want this. When they come up with these all-day 4yo kindergarten programs even in affluent areas, parents glom right onto it, saying their kids need to be in these programs so they can be ‘competitive’ in tomorrow’s workplace! Yes, taking barely potty-trained 4 year olds away from their families 8 hours a day to supposedly ‘teach’ them will make them competitive 18 years from now. Unbelievable.

The cultural Marxists want to indoctrinate American kids as soon as possible. This pre-k goal has been brewing on for some time in the 'early learning' segment of pubic education. There'll for sure be federal $$$ as the reward.

Oh-yeah, that's the ticket. Start them earlier because we all know that's the reason kids can't read or write. They just need a couple more years with the children to teach them. It's not the education system, or the No Child Left Behind Act because we've seen how well that has worked. < / sarcasm >

Fit each 4-year-old with a red scarf and take them from their homes for the good of the state. Sounds sensible.

OFFERED, on the backs of TAXPAYERS!

I already pay more in School Taxes for a public school that fails miserably than I do to send my own child to a private school.. and thats on a 150k house!

Screw Hillary! Maybe if the government stopped handing out checks to crack addicts and lazy folk, they’d focus in on making sure their children got educated... instead they do nothing, value nothing and leave the rest of us stuck with the bill for their education and/or incarceration.

Honestly we do not need this new program of hers. Our country's public school system (which is already in place) is truly suffering in some cities. So why doesn't she take all that money and help what is already in place. Our youth today need help and when they are 4 doesn't make much of a difference. She could even put the money towards the already established Kindergardens which are suffering from lack of teachers. This woman's priorities are screwed up. Want more on this subject? Read what Christopher Ruddy has to say.
