I am quoting a reliable conservative Michelle Malkin Look at all the unions in that list:
Who is the ÃÂCoalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform?ÃÂ An umbrella group for every major pro-open borders outfitÃÂmany of which receive generous taxpayer subsidies. From a March 2007 press release:A coalition of local immigrant advocates, national policy groups, labor unions, faith-based groups, and ethnic organizations have come together under the umbrella of the Coalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CCIR) to mount an unprecedented nationwide campaign to support passage of workable comprehensive immigration reform legislation in Congress this year.
CIR launched its effort over the weekend in Washington by bringing together field organizers from 29 states to hammer out strategy and refine legislative targets. In addition, the campaigns Strategy Council met to consider legislative strategy and policy priorities. The members of the Strategy Council are:
ACORN, Asian American Justice Center, Center for American Progress, Center for Community Change, Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA), Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC), Denver Area Labor Federation, El Centro, Inc., El Pueblo, Hate Free Zone, Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform, LA County Federation of Labor, Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, LULAC, Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition, MALDEF, NAACP, NAKASEC, NALACC, National Capital Immigrant Coalition, National Council of La Raza, National Immigration Forum, National Immigration Law Center, Nebraska Appleseed, New York Immigration Coalition, PCUN/CAUSA, SEIU, SEIU 32BJ, SEIU Florida Healthcare Union, Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, UNITE HERE, UNITE HERE Local 226 Las Vegas, UNITE HERE New Jersey State Council, United Farm Workers, United Methodist Church - General Board of Church and Society.
I called Senator Burr on the English number 4 times and each time it went directly to his Asheville office (no one there, either). I just called the Spanish number and it was picked up on the first ring. His staff says that he hasn’t released his position on cloture for the Immigration bill. Needless to say, I am hitting him hard with faxes, but as a heads up to anyone else that feels so inclined.....
I likewise have no confidence with Brownback on the illegal
immigration issue. — I think he got burned early on and
has backed off on this issue. I still am not sure.
Senator Roberts in a reply to my email he sent on 12 June said: “I oppose the bill for many reasons. My first concern
with the bill is that it includes amnesty and rewards immigrants for illegal conduct. In addition, U.S. Citizenship
and Immigration Services (USCIS) lacks the resources and management to make the so-called reforms work......This was a backroom deal and in shutting out many Senators from one of the most important issues of our time, the issue has been subjugated to politics and unworkable compromise.”
I”m really surprised by this. My husband and I had written several times and faxed and each time we received a note back that we took to mean she was not going to vote for this bill. Unfortunately I cleaned out my email or I’d go back and reread the response. I’ll check with my husband to see if he kept his.
There was a poll out this morning that was done by the UPI and Zogby showing Congress' approval rating was down to 3%. And yet, the jackasses continue trying to pass amnesty through. I agree about doing a "no confidence vote" for them. In my life, I have never seen such arrogance. It's literally drips off of them. Will we have to yank them from office kicking and screaming to tar and feather them before they get the message?
Alexander says he will vote for cloture and then vote against the bill.
Kay says she will vote against bringing this bill back to the Senate at this time
Yes I did... Great news!
By the way... Why IS a Texas girl in PA?
Worry no more about Kay.
Back in Texas now...
Thats GOOD!
When PA dumped Santorum I thought they were all crazy up there.
He was one who really got the WOT...
The State as a whole was great, Philly was just “north Houston”
That's not good. That's a recipe to get the bill passed. He MUST vote against cloture tonight, or he's in the S. 1639 camp. Period.
Did he say why? The way the numbers are, and the way Reid is bringing it to the floor, a vote to invoke cloture is just as irresponsible as a vote for the bill. He is trying to have it both ways. He can make McConnell and the White House happy by voting for cloture, and then vote against the bill so he can say he did, but what will that matter when the bill PASSES. If he really believes this is a bad bill, he should vote against cloture. He has assumed the cover-my-butt with both sides skunk position.
bump to your post. I know spanish lol.
I will tell them to kill this Amnesty bill.
FReepers, if you have Rat Senators, they need to be pressured too. Pretend you’re a union toadie or something and you oppose this AMNESTY because it’ll drive manufacturing wages down or something. ROFL
“Alexander says he will vote for cloture and then vote against the bill. Sen. Ben Nelson’s (D-NE) office told me the same thing. I explained to the aide that I was aware of the trickery involved, and she got very annoyed. They are trying to hoodwink us with this cloture ploy. A VOTE FOR CLOTURE IS A VOTE FOR THE BILL, INDEPENDENT OF THE FINAL VOTE!!”
Good news - perhaps. I just called Senator Alexander’s office (using the opposition’s Spanish-language 800-882-2005) to berate them about his prevarication regarding voting against cloture, and was told that he has just announced that he will OPPOSE CLOTURE on S.1639, the re-incarnation of this monster.
After telling her just how terrible the bill is, and how damaging it would be to our Country if it passes, I asked her to thank the Senator for listening to the voice of the people.
