I was a Hunter supporter until I learned that he was another big government guy and something other than a conservative on economic issues.

Too bad you won’t ever vote for Fred. Lucky for you there are enough of us who will vote for Fred so you won’t have to live in Commissar Hillary’s workers paradise...

Thompson showed signs of rustiness in Richmond earlier this month when a reporter asked him to name his greatest accomplishments in the Senate -- not exactly a hardball question - and he struggled to answer. "It doesn't always have to do with putting your name on a piece of legislation," he finally said. "There was an awful lot of bad legislation that I helped to stop, for one thing."

That's actually a great conservative answer.

Indeed! Fred should actually capitalize on this track, many many voters would applaud those efforts at stopping stinking legislation.

I get to believe and be excited for the first time. I wasn't born yet when Reagan won his second victory.

It's nice to think I won't have to vote for the 'lesser of two evils'.

Fred is an easy target, and this Democratic campaign shows why.

There’s only one candidate who is beyond reproach, and the Democrats haven’t been able to come up with anything negative about the guy except that he’s a Mormon.

There’s a (hopefully) small but distressingly vocal minority in the conservative movement who believe that social conservatism has to include a rather puerile, holier-than-thou, and, frankly, un-Christian attitude toward anyone who doesn't meet their own moral standards.

I see it right here every day. Go visit a thread that talks about someone choosing not to have children, or to send their kids to public schools. Or *gasp* a woman that admits she likes sex! Oh, the horror! There is, unfortunately, a faction here that I like to call the "Sexually Repressed, Holier-than-Thou Free Republic Prude Squad."

Time to order those Fred bumper stickers, folks.

Already ordered and handed out 50 of them down here in the sunny South and I have TWO on my truck, and one on the Durango
I have 8 t-shirts, of varying designs and colors, and wear themn all the time. (not all 8 at the same time)
It's starting...you can almost smell the fear from the du's and the dnc and the paulie supporters and the McRomneyrudy clan.
Grassroots will put this man in the White House...boots on the ground, FRiends...boots on the ground..

Follow the hate...it will most likely lead to the best candidate(s).

“Taking the time to find out about Fred Thompson was a real eyeopener. Whether I vote for Hunter or not, rest assured it won’t be for Thompson.”

That’s fine. I was a Hunter supporter at one point until I realized that he is making no headway at all and for people to stubbornly stand on “my guy or no one” is a logical fallacy. I’d love to vote for Hunter in the general, problem is he won’t get the nomination and will likely pull out of the race before the end of the year barring miraculous movement in the polls. If he was closer to the top tier of candidates, that would mean a lot. but he’s not. In a lot of polls he even trails (yuck) Ron Paul.

I’ve decided to vote for the most conservative candidate with a chance of winning. That man is Fred Thompson. I will not even in the general vote for; Rudy, McCain, Paul or Huckabee.

Now if in the primary, there is a miracle of the size and scope not seen since biblical times and Hunter pulls into the top two, I’m voting for him, yes even over Fred.

Kind of reminds me of what my grandmother once said; it was to the effect that there is nothing more dangerous than a coward who was cornered.

“hide the truth from America”... I wonder what “truth” that is? Fred has a record of doing what’s right, regardless of “the party” feels about it. His opposition to Roe v. Wade is couched in sound legal principle. This is the only way to win that fight. Emtional rhetoric isn’t productive. His split vote on Clinton’s impeachment was based on strict legal interpretation of the requirements. It would have been easier, and more popular, for Fred to vote the double. Instead, he did what he believed to be right in terms of the law. This philosophy is the reasoning behind his support for pardoning Scooter Libby. I thank the Democrats for illustrating so clearly exactly what is wrong with our government. The same group that screamed about abuse of power regarding the Patriot act, are the same crowd who want Scooter imprisioned, and not pardoned, regardless of the shaky legality of the entire affair. The argument is really “we hate government abuse of power... unless we’re the ones doing it”. We need Fred Thompson because we need a calm, reasonable voice to lead us out of this insane protest frenzy.

When Democrats say Fred is hiding the truth, is their theory that the best hiding place is in plain sight?

Worried? I think they are absolutely scared shitless. And with good reason, he can kick there ass any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

These dimbulbs already know that if Fred runs he will win the nomination and that Conservatives will turn out in droves to elect him. And that scares the everloving crap out of them.

I want to win. I know Rudy has flaws but so do the others. And the Dems are just socialist pacifists who cannot be trusted on national security or domestic security for that matter. I think Rudy has a chance to win nationally. Probably, the BASE will go huff huff and put Fred or Mitt in. I will support them. But, I have an inkling from political experience that they will not win the general election. Rudy could. And with a strong conservVP like Thompson or Hunter, he might.

You win! Conservatives (and the not-so-conservative) want someone they can vote FOR.

Stopping Gore and Kerry twice didn't advance the cause that this country was founded upon, namely: Liberty. Our Government has gobbled-up more of our money, time, and everything else since 'compassion' entered the scene.

Give me a border, not compassion. Give me states who can "just say no" to abortion (as they would have to slavery-but we know how that turned out) and save your 'compassion'. Give me a government that knows it's place in the scheme of things: where it must conduct itself within the confines of the Bill of Rights, rather than 'compassionately' disregarding it's limits to appease special interests.

We haven't 'danced with the one who brung us' in a long time.

As a country, we can no longer afford the luxury of pissing on our founders graves, for we shall surely pay a price. Thompson, Hunter, whoever; we must get this train back on the track for our posterity.

'08 will truly test whether we embrace freedom and liberty as envisioned or, are willing to endure life in a police-state and the security it 'promises'. Myself, I have little use for 'chains' unless they're on a tire going over the summit. Even then, I can take them off when I reach the other side. Not so, when they're the 'all season' variety a police state would impose.

Were Hillary to run against a 'true' conservative, she'd out-Mondale Mondale-- Minnesota wouldn't even be in her column.

Rudy should remain "America's Mayor", where screwing with the constitution goes less noticed. His and Hillary's "doing things for the common good" are a bit too authortarian for my tastes, and I suspect, most Americans as well.

Neither of these two witchdoctors has a cure for what ails America. They've just got plans.
