John Ziegler, drive home time talk show host on KFI in Los Angeles, is reporting that the story of the break up of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and his wife was reported June 8 on the air by Telemundo anchorwoman Mirthala Salinas.

You are going to love this. Salinas is the woman who was having the affair with him. They allowed her to keep covering (no pun intended) the mayor a year after they knew about the affair. I guess she left out part of the story.

And here is a doubleheader (no pun indended) of something else you'll love. Democrat Speaker of the California Assembly, Fabio Nunez, had also had an affair with Salinas.

You just can't make up this stuff.

At 4 p.m. on June 8, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa issued a terse statement announcing that he and his wife Corina were separating after 20 years of marriage.

Two hours later, Telemundo television anchor Mirthala Salinas delivered the story to her Spanish-language viewers on the Friday evening news.

"The rumors were true," she declared of the split after an introduction that described the story as a "political scandal" that had left "many people with their mouth open."

What Salinas did not say in the newscast was that she was the other woman. She and Villaraigosa had been in a relationship even though she had been the political reporter assigned to cover local politics and the mayor.

Let’s see...I am reminded of Bill Clinton. Many voters suspected that he had extramarital affairs...Yet they voted for him anyway. During the impeachment, over the half of country thought that Republicans were harrassing Bill Clinton for affair with Monica. Those people were more upset with GOP...

I suspect that majority of voters will shrug their shoulders and vote for Villaraigoza again as the mayor...

I doubt that Walter Moore, a conservative candidate for mayor, will bring up adultery issue...
