Posted on 07/18/2007 9:48:39 PM PDT by Reform Canada

It appears someone has launched a complaint against free dominion with the Canadian Human rights tribunal.

Being Canadian has all sorts of drawbacks.

Not the least of which is living in Canada.

Well if the need arises, Us FReepers will anty up to the table and contribute what’s necessary to force this into the courts. (Where it will be dismissed) and if it isn’t we’ll appeal and appeal till we get a judge that has his head on straight.

George Orwell warned us this was coming.

Now is the time to stand and FIGHT!!!

The Canadian Government wouldn't post crap like that on a web site

I don't think the Canadian government posted from an FD administrative account. Read the post. :-)

Bill’s approach is abrasive and crass at times. But don’t anyone think that THAT makes any difference at all. All the public or the commission cares about is that someone insulted a Muzzie. Bill could have done it in the most polite way possible, and it would not have mattered. Islam and Moslems cannot be discussed in a negative manner whatsoever. That is NOT allowed.

I am not a legal mind. But if say we take an actual case, where the CHRC ruled against a man for posting on Stormfront. He was fined $4000 (it doesn’t matter that Stormfront is a US site). If he appealed it to the actual courts and his appeal lost - would that then, under common law, create a precedent - that freedom of speech is limited when it offends recognized minority groups?

Are you serious? Miss Gentes would actually get the money from the fine? She is not even Moslem! Egad. I would call this the Committee on Public Safety, except at least the accuser is not anonymous.

The torte reform consists of a requirement to use nothing but 100% pure Canola oil shortening.

Hey, you! Good to see you! Connie, and FD, bump! Long may Freedom ring!

As we say Down South, "Damn Right!"

Pleasure to see you, too.

As awful as this incident is for Mark, Connie, and Free Dominion, it's proving to be a wonderful "separate the sheep from the goats" moment, as well. The true supporters of free speech, and the board, are coming forth, and the trolls and disruptors ( who I've suspected all along ) are outing themselves quite nicely.

I've said before, everyone- right, left, or koo-kooka-choo crazy- should be up in arms about this attempt to use a star chamber, unelected, and unaccountable bureaucracy to squelch free speech.

Silence one board, and the others will follow.

AMEN!

I hope all goes well with FD.

I hope it isn't a portend of things to come.

This is the latest and best recap of the incident I've seen so far:

Free Dominion Targeted by HRC, Updated

Big Blue Wave is following the HRC complaint against Free Dominion.

Now the details of the complaint are emerging.

The subject of the complaint is one Bill Whatcott, who has already been the target of complaints by other quasi-judicial tribunals. For instance, he was fined $17 500 for by the Saskatchewan Human Rights Tribunal for distributing flyers denouncing homosexual behaviour. SLIGHT CORRECTION: Whatcott was fined for photocopying a classified ad from a gay magazine which solicited boys for sex. Nevermind that could be illegal, he was still fined.

Mark Fournier has more on the complainant;
Marie-Line Gentes a wildlife biologist who studied at the University of Saskatchewan and now teaches at Vanier College in Quebec. She obviously has a serious hate on for Bill Whatcott and Free Dominion is caught in the crossfire.

The odd thing is she isn't whining about what everyone would expect, she is whining on behalf of her poor Muslim brothers and sisters. I guess she figures they are too stupid to act on their own behalf so she will condescend to do it for them.

Some of the comments Gentes alleges to have violated her human rights:
04/24/06 "I can't figure out why the homosexuals I ran into are on the side of the Muslims.

After all, Muslims who practice Sharia law tend to advocate beheading homosexuals."

03/09/06 "I defy Islamic censorship and speak about what I believe is the truth about violent Islamism and its threat to religious liberty in Canada."

No kidding.

I can't figure out why women in academia are on the side of the Muslims, either. After all, Muslims who practice Sharia law tend to advocate executing women who learn to read, expose their ankles and appear in public in the presence of men who are not family members. I defy Islamic censorship and speak about what I believe is the truth about violent Islamism and its threat to womens' liberty in Canada.

(Good enough?)

Free Dominion's Connie Wilkins will be interviewed by Michael Coren on CFRB on Sunday at 7:30 pm.

Oh, and that twitling attacking Free Dominion should be burqua’d.

About the guy, he was really fined for railing against an objectively terrible and illegal thing?! Daaaa-yum. So, just who can you insult in Canada?

Bill ( who is, IMO, a bit over the top in the way he criticizes things he doesn’t approve of ) distributed a flyer with a copy of an ad in a gay magazine the was seeking boys ( kids! ) for sex.

In a sane world, the source of that ad would have been hauled to the Bar of Justice- but Bill got the axe for pointing it out.

Canada was plagued by 13 years of Liberal rule, and they were quite adroit at

1)- spending everyone else’s money and raising taxes

2)- creating endless ranks of bureaucracies which employed their friends, relatives, and cronies, and talked about all the “problems” they were solving, without actually doing anything about them

3)- characterizing any group opposing them as “scary.”

Canadians seemed to see through this farce in the last election, but unfortunately, Prime Minister Harper, after a good start, seems to be infected with George Bush Disease- he just wants to get along with the opposition now.

Be that as it may, those 13 years seeded the government with numerous commissions and authorities who aren’t really accountable to anyone, except maybe the hack politicians who appoint them, and they have rather draconian powers.

I hope this incident will call to the publics attention just how dangerous they are to a free people.

This is an attack we cannot ignore.

This is an opening salvo on everyone- right, left, and center.

A free and self-governing society cannot exist with controlled, limited, PC-governed speech.

My theory has always been- from the days of the KKK- to "let 'em all speak up, because normal people can sort out the kooks."

We don't need- or want- "help" from the government.

And may I remind people:
