Ron Paul Quietly Converting GOP Believers
By John Fout TheStreet.com Political Correspondent 8/9/2007 12:20 PM EDT
Why haven't conservatives leaders embraced their own ideals and come out to support Ron Paul in public?
I pondered this issue in an article in June. I saw Paul as the one second-tier candidate who might have a chance of a breakout from the pack. It turns out I might have got it right. He has remained the most popular GOP candidate on the Internet. This genuine outpouring of support is rivaled only by that for Barack Obama.

Excellent reminder about Clinton and the former distaste for nation-building.
Thanks You Neocon Fascist Globalist Loser...
Here's my thoughts. I am not sure I agree with your argument, because I think the opportunity exists in spades for Muslims to stand up to Muslims. They have proven extremely adept at fighting/killing each other over almost any little thing. They feud - clan upon clan, tribe upon tribe, faction A on faction B, and of course nation on nation.
This violence is part of their attempt at self-determination, because for the last several centuries, they lived in countries and society's defined for them by Western imperial powers. And now that they have an opportunity to decide for themselves who or what they are, they go at it violently. Without first-world meddling/internvention, they would most likely keep going at it violently for centuries.
Because the West/Russia/China need ME stability, we try to stop their infighting and wade in to prop up/set up governments that can keep the peace well enough for oil to be pumped and shipped. These governments are not the natural result of Muslim/Arab/other in-house conflicts, and Arab terrorists tap into nationalism for support.
If it were China propping up the House of Saud, who do you think most Al-Qaeda attacks would be directed against?
Only in the minds of defeatists.
As I've told you before, one can formally endorse a candidate, or one can just say all kinds of positive things about a candidate and say how great he is.
Duke does the latter rather than the former to provide Ron Paul will plausible deniability.
Paul and Duke can play that little game all they want, but it's transparent to those who are paying attention.
Ron Paul is David Duke's favorite Presidential candidate, and Ron Paul apparently has no problem being David Duke's favorite candidate.
Which is all any decent person needs to know.
So Yugoslavia was necessary for the US to get involved in? There have been PLENTY of times we didn’t need to get involved. Sorry, you may disagree, but it’s just not supported by reality. Note I didn’t say what % that a more isolationist role would reduce foreign conflicts, just that it would. Plus, if we had a Ron Paul in office and more like him running the country, we probably wouldn’t give two licks about the oil in the middle east which means we probably never would care anymore than we do about Africa.

If CAIR didn’t want it shown, perhaps it is of value.
Some of us know something about Paul that you don’t seem to, Paul is a nut, always has been, always will be. We lived in his county and met him when he was an OB/GYN and running for his first office. The man was a squirrel, he was elected but without our votes, but he has gotten as high as he is going to get.

That is research by people who are not defeatists.
Because he provides an alternative to big-government republicanism. They fear anyone who doesn't worship the state.
Could it just possibly be because Paul is a libertarian registered as a Republican?
Millions of social conservatives don't believe in the "anything goes" libertarian philosophy, and millions more conservatives of all varieties don't believe in surrendering to Al Queda and coming home with our tail between our legs like we have done in every war since 1945.
This whole thread just cracks me up...Hillary Clinton is heading right into the White House, and posters here are wrapped up in attacking a man who has NO CHANCE of becoming the Republican nominee. Hillary is laughing at the people caught up in attacking Paul...”useful idiots”. That is EXACTLY what you are.
How does one register as a “Libertarian” in Texas? He can’t. Why? The only way to state a party preference in Texas is to vote in a party primary in either March or April of every even year. Therefore, ALL who do not vote in a party primary are UNAFFILIATED voters in Texas, including those called “Libertarian”. Now if one wants to run for office as a Libertarian, he must have not voted in the most recent major party primary. Minor parties cannot have primaries unless they draw 20 percent of the last general election vote for governor. It looks everything is stacked only for a Bush or a Clinton.
Right you are, the American people know only to vote “Clinton” after a failed Bush presidency. Never mind that the Clinton presidency will fail too. They are not too bright, are they? It’s thirty+ years of “dumbed-down” education in progress.
I would have thought the people here would be a little brighter...the enemy is Hillary, NOT Ron Paul.
Well, THAT was a nonsensical response.
My problem is the shocking evidence we have been viewing with a particular FR population in the latest Free Republic Poll (7/26) Is the "Surge" working? voting don't know, doubtful or bring them home.
To me that is like an embezzlement of logic and reason at Free Republic since all the facts have been clearly laid out. There is no excuse ignorance.
