Ron Paul Quietly Converting GOP Believers
By John Fout TheStreet.com Political Correspondent 8/9/2007 12:20 PM EDT
Why haven't conservatives leaders embraced their own ideals and come out to support Ron Paul in public?
I pondered this issue in an article in June. I saw Paul as the one second-tier candidate who might have a chance of a breakout from the pack. It turns out I might have got it right. He has remained the most popular GOP candidate on the Internet. This genuine outpouring of support is rivaled only by that for Barack Obama.

Why is it that medical doctors that don’t make it in their profession think they have a solution to anythng?
Ron Paul is a joke! His ideals for our country are ones that will tear down the values we have upheld for many generations.
Any candidate that aligns himself with the likes of “truthers” like Alex Jones should never be taken seriously!
Let’s focus on the second tier candidates that are looking out for the best interest for our nation.
Pat Buchahan won in New Hampshire. I guess that state is full of “fringe wackos”.
Ron Paul is being interviewed live on Laura Ingraham right now.
No, it doesn't. Where does the Constitution say that Congress has to use the terminology "declaration of war" (or some grammatical derivation thereof)?
Truth of the matter is, the Constitution simply says that Congress has to "approve" hostilities, and then it's in the President's ballpark, as commander in chief.
Libertarians are not Conservatives.
You have no idea what you’re writing about. That statement must be one of the most ignorant I’ve ever seen in my life.
Pandering to global corporations who have no allegiance to our country and no interest in the health of our Republic beyond it being a profit center and market for product does not make a republicrat a conservative. It makes one an incumbant.
Passing laws which limit individual liberty because of moral offense toward behavior that doesn’t harm others or deprive them of life, liberty, or property is not conservative. If that were the case then the Taliban and the Chicomms would be more conservative than many GOP tapeworms in DC.
Growing the scope and power of the federal government at the expense of tax payer wallets, individual liberty and states’ rights is not politically conservative.
They go to other conservatives sites to bash Fred because if they tried it here they get shown the door. They ridicule this site on their threads.
Oh no, its the invasion of the ex-FReepers, they of the lengthy posts and ghoulish graphics.. jveritas, Fair Opinion and now MiaT.(quote from another conservative forum)
This is the reception they get where ever they go.
I don't think the owner of this site thinks that Ron Paul has much of a chance to be the GOP nominee...he believes that Fred Thompson will be the eventual winner...and that is the conventional thinking of most conservatives here. So as long as the Rudy fans are spinning their wheels on Ron Paul he doesn't have to ban them completely for using such tactics on Fred Thompson threads...
And those of us who hold out hope that Ron Paul will catch on with the public as the race progresses don't mind all the attention they bring to our threads. And we don't attack other conservative candidates...unless you consider Rudy to be a conservative.
Jim probably thinks it is all great entertainment.
I hadn't noticed that. Could you be specific, or is this just another Paul supporter spinning conspiracy theories.
What is your name and where is your research?
My observations only...take em for what the're worth if you like...I'm certainly not going to post a link to a pro-rudy-Fred Thompson bashing site on here.
You need to name the conspirators.
I looked at your World Nut Daily links and remain unimpressed. Your “research” appears to be nothing more then straining at gnats...I’m more inclined to believe the Director of the C.I.A. and the Under Secretary of Defense and even the 911 Commission when they say there was no link to Iraq and 911 then I am to believe what you call your “research.”
Oh get off your high horse, I haven't attacked Paul or anyone else. I simply pointed out why so many Republicans are not jumping onto his bandwagon (if sub-1% poll numbers constitute a bandwagon) as some FReepers apparently think we should. The only way to keep Hillary out of the White house is to nominate a non-RINO GOP candidate who can win a nationwide election, and everyone except a relative handful of diehard libertarian and libertarian-leaning FReepers realize that Paul couldn't even win his home state.
To you perhaps.
You need to name the conspirators.
They out thenselves well enough...I don't need to do anything.
Can you give me an example of what posts you might have looked at in the Pre War Doc section?
Once again what is your name and where is your research?
LOL!
Conservatives support conservatives, not social liberals like Giuliani or moonbat libertarians like Paul.
If you could synthesize a candidate who was closer to Ron Paul on domestic policy and Rudy Giuliani on foreign policy, you’d be getting somewhere.
Sadly, the Peter Principal applies to Paul.
Get a grip. I didn't say you did. It was just a general observation of what has been going on at FR lately...attacking the irrelevant Paul instead of the Queen.
“Keep up the good fight guys”
As long as it isn’t Al Qaeda terrorists in Iraq? “Right”
