Welcome Congressman Duncan Hunter - LIVE Thread (virtual Free Republic press Conference)
From San Diego, CA | 8/13/07 | Duncan Hunter/Freepers

Posted on 08/13/2007 1:24:44 PM PDT by pissant

To members of Free Republic and friends, I would like to introduce a candidate for President of the United States and the current congressman from the 52nd district of California, Duncan Hunter!! To Americans who value the patriotism and missions of our Armed Forces, to those who want to put fear into the hearts of our adversaries from Beijing to Tehran, to those who value the rule of law when it comes to illegal immigration, to those who realize that the unborn deserve full legal protection beginning at conception, to those who believe Peace through Strength is far more than a motto, to those who do not like giving communist China unfettered access to our markets while they cheat at every turn, to those who want to halt and reverse losses of US sovereignty to global entities, and to those who want the GOP to return to Reaganism, Mr. Hunter is the Best choice.

Congressman Hunter currently is the ranking Republican on the Armed Services Committee, after spending the previous 4 years as its chair. He is an original co-sponsor of the Fair Tax bill and he is the author of the Secure Borders bill, signed by President Bush in 2006, which mandates 800+ miles of double fence across the smuggling corridors of the SW. He also is the man who has led the fight against NAFTA’s Mexican truckers having free reign on our roads, has forced congressional oversight of the executive branch’s ‘Security and Prosperity Partnership’ with Canada and Mexico, and was instrumental in saving our military intelligence officers from having to jump through bureaucratic hoops unrelated to combat.

A Vietnam combat Veteran himself, he currently has a son in the Marine Corps, Capt. Duncan Duane Hunter who is busy hunting jihadis in Afghanistan after two tours in Iraq. Congressman Hunter has been the anti-dote to the liberals in Congress doing their damndest to cut and run from the battlefield. Mr. Hunter knows that this war is our generation’s calling, and “the only way we can leave is to WIN”.

Below are 15 questions we compiled last month on Free Republic, which we sent to Congressman Hunter a few weeks ago. They are followed by his answers. This is the springboard we will use to kick off Mr. Hunter’s live “virtual press conference” on FR today.

Please stop by and say hello and you may post additional questions. HOWEVER, Please realize that time limitations will prevent him from answering all the questions you may have. Though he may get time later to forward answers to many left unaddressed during this session.

Please drop Jim Robinson a note of thanks as well. For not only hosting this event, but for having the best conservative website in the country!

Also, no disruptors allowed. Your posts will be removed.

The following is our Kickoff Q&A session:

How can the United Nations truly be fully reformed to the best of abilities, and what would you do to make sure that all of the needed UN reforms truly take place for it to truly become a very decent organization for the very first time?

“Congressman Hunter: We’ve been told by major proabortion GOP candidates to not worry about their stands on abortion, as it’s not an issue they will do anything on, and they may even appoint some prolife federal judges.
But isn’t there more to it? What impact does the Presidential nominee have on the Party platform and the cross-section of RNC membership for the next four years? What will YOUR role be on the Life issue and the Party platform when you are nominated?”

You can ask your question directly to Duncan Hunter, because he registered under his name.

If I may chime in, I’d just like to say it absolutely does matter whom we elect for president reagrding the life issue, because the president picks the judicial nominees, and other examples are when former President Clinton vetoed the ban on partial-birth infanticide, and overturned the Mexico City policy, where U.S. tax dollars would be given to organizations that perform or promote abortion in foreign countries.

He answered it in the first post.

I believe strongly in achieving energy independence for the U.S. This should be accomplished by cutting taxes on the production of alternative energy systems, including geothermal, nuclear, wind, solar, etc. In the meantime, ANWR should be open for U.S. petroleum development.

Sir, It is a pleasure to address you. Although I have not made up my mind for whom to vote, your words ring with a truth and knowing not of a politician, but with a truth and hope America is thirsty for. I read all I have been able to read concerning your stance on the positions, and I find nothing to disagree with.

Thank You Sir, for setting aside time for the people of Free Republic, Sir.

I do not have a question, your statements have me leaning in your direction, Sir, to attain my vote(s) (both primary and general). America needs Men and Women of Honor and Truth.

I Thank You Sir, for your Service to our Nation, and I Thank You Sir, for your Son's Service to our Nation.

I shall be anticipating your moving up in the polls....May God Bless You and your Family, Sir!

Great question. Undoing that damage has been my raison d'etre for the past seven years. It's gonna take a miracle. LOL.

I feel one of the biggest stumbling blocks in our party and with many of our candidates is we spend our time preaching to the choir instead of taking our message to the masses, if you will. I'm not just talking about issue by issue message either, but the core of our value, the individual over the system. It seems our identity is always on the defensive. I can't remember when we were on the offensive about our identity as Conservatives.

P.S. Your tagline is silly.

.. but accurate, but I'll save my Ron Paul is a fraud discussion for another thread (or Freepmail me if you would like..)

Congressman Hunter:

In light of the finding that NASA temperature readings have been revised due to irregularities attributed to overlooking a Y2K bug, temperature sensors placed in locations such as asphalt parking lots or near air conditioning compressors, and manual revisions of temperatures as show by comparing prior postings of NASA temperature data; NASA has had to quietly revise the hottest year on record is now 1934 not 1998.

This dramatic change in temperature readings calls into question many of the global warming models pushed by advocates of treaties like kyoto. Would you support a congressional investigation into the temperature data collection irregularities and attempts to conceal this information from the public?
