Deaths down, civilian deaths are lower, but still at concerning levels.

In general Iraqi elements have been standing and fighting and taking losses.

Tribal rejection of Al Qaede by tribal chiefs has spread to other areas.

By next summer can reduce troop levels to pre surge levels, by next summer.

No, I didn’t, that whole part was confusing, he was asking who was talking and I couldn’t see.

I’m going to watch the whole thing again later tonight.

I thought the dims loved protesters, something about their freedom of speech?

Anyone else think if the General actually said, “President Bush” instead of “my chain of command”, demmie heads would actually explode on camera? ;-)

As I said, the majority of the public will not hear his full testimony, just as they have not heard ANY pressers from the two war theaters. They have 98% of media, ie, ALL of Hollywood and Academia, ALL MAJOR media. We have a few radio talk shows, and ONE fair reporters on Fox. Brit Hume.

You must agree, most Americans do not have the facts, context, or history?

Why the hell is Ike interrupting the General?

Trying to break the rythm because something positive is being said.

Shut up Ike!

KING DAVID IN IRAQ
Written by Ralph Peters
Friday, 05 January 2007

It's official: Dave Petraeus, one of the U.S. Army's most impressive leaders, is headed back to Baghdad to take charge. The assignment means a fourth star and the chance to save a desperate situation - or preside over a grim strategic failure.

With back-to-back tours of duty in Iraq behind him and the most positive image among Iraqis of any U.S. leader, military or civilian, Petraeus is a natural choice. His intelligence, drive, devotion to service and negotiating skill make the lean, young-looking general seem perfect.

The general has a winning public demeanor - when he led the 101st Airborne Division in northern Iraq in 2003, he proved such a superb diplomat that the Kurds called him "Malik Daoud" - King David - as a mark of respect. He listened patiently, spent money wisely, used force intelligently and truly did win hearts and minds.
