Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll 10/8 Giuliani 25% Thompson 23% Romney 14% McCain 9%
Rasmussen ^ | 10/8/07

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday Rudy Giuliani back on top in the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. Twenty-five percent (25%) of Likely Primary Voters say they will vote for the former Mayor of New York City while 23% support Fred Thompson. Mitt Romney is the top choice for 14% while John McCain slipped back into single digits at 9%. Mike Huckabee earns the vote from 6% (see recent daily numbers).

Polling over the past three weeks has shown a clear decline in support for Thompson, but it’s not clear that Fred is fizzling. As noted last week, the GOP race is getting murkier.

A recent commentary by Douglas Schoen helps explain why Rasmussen Reports shows a closer race for the nomination than some other polls that focus on interviews with all adults. Dick Morris also touches on this subject in a recent column.

In the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. Clinton attracts 42% support followed by Barack Obama at 26%. John Edwards is at 12% and Bill Richardson is a distant fourth with 4% support from Likely Democratic Primary Voters (see recent daily numbers). Obama’s support steadily declined from April through August, stabilized in September, and may have begun to turnaround this month. Clinton remains the frontrunner but the former First Lady’s nomination is not inevitable.

Not this election, Friend. Maybe a good VP or strong candidate in 4 years.

-—”If the Democrats gain control of power in 08 say hello to the Fairness Doctrine say hello to 12 million illegals becoming voters say hello to the felon vote say hello to leftest judges who will do the bidding of the likes of Hillary Clinton from the bench. Say hello to higher taxes being used to fund more Democrat votes.”-—

Rudy911 had no problem with the Fairness Doctrine as Mayor - and he has refused to comment on it during the campaign, even when asked directly.

He will also appoint leftist judges. There is nothing in his history or his worldview to indicate otherwise.

Also, he even called himself the “most pro-immigrant Mayor in America,” sued the Federal Government to overturn stricter illegal immigration laws, and gave them free health care - even BOASTED about it. As recently as a couple of weeks ago he said that illegal immigration isn’t a crime, nor SHOULD it be.

Trying to strike the fear of Hillary in Conservatives like myself doesn’t work with Rudy911 as the alternative. The threat is effectively doused.

I stand by my comments: May the GNP (Grand New Party) suffer devastating, across-the-board, crippling losses at every level, and in every possible race if they take the radical leap leftward that is Rudy911.

This is the same thing I’ve been trying to say for weeks. You said it much better Once Mrs. Clinton takes over, the world as we know it will change drastically. That is why ANY of our top Republican candidates will be better. No candidate is perfect but we do know which candidates (Dems) are totally wrong for America.

He is a good man but 2008 just is not his time. There are so many other places for Hunter to positively contribute ( maybe VP?)

Sorry - I used to, but I deleted it once I 'altered' the photo.

-—”Dead on. The whining James Dobson types are not as big a factor as they claim they are. There are far more practical voters like you, than the head in the sand dead ender types.”-—

According to the other thread you’ve been on, 27% will vote Third Party based just on Rudy911’s rabid, fanatical, Pro-Abortion activism. That’s before guns, gay rights, illegal immigration fighters, Hate Crimes Legislation opposers, et al.

You haven’t even seen the beginning of the bleeding. I pray Rudy911 doesn’t get the nod to show you how bad it will be. You’ll be the angriest person in America -screaming at Conservatives for not sacrificing the values and beliefs they SWORE they wouldn’t sacrifice.

If gun gabber julieannie gets the nom, the parties will be identical. There is no difference between hitlery and rudy, and there’s not many folks in congress holding the conservative fort down , either.

Bad deal either way.

Rudy is the only candidate that CAN'T beat the Dem.

Rudy Giuliani will NEVER be President, whether he gets the nomination or not.

It is completely and utterly STUPID to kick a reliable voting constituency in the teeth, in order to supposedly cater to people who MIGHT or MIGHT NOT vote for you.

Rasmussen released a poll the other day that says that 27% of Republicans will stay home or vote 3rd party if Rudy is the nominee.

-27% = We lose.

Let's say that the RudyBoosters are right and a bunch of those will hold their noses and vote for Rudy.

Let's say half of them lower themselves to the intellectual level of the RudyBoosters and vote for Rudy.

Guess what?

-13.5% = We lose.

But, the RudyBoosters claim that we'll be able to attract so many Dems and moderates that we can make up for the loss of a large number of our voters, right?

Well, say hello to the 9/11 Firefighters For Truth. They'll make damn sure that no moderates think Rudy is worth bothering with. The Jersey Girls will probably come up with a way to help out.

By the time they're all done, Rudy will not be able to win a race for dogcatcher.

When I was in uniform, often times I had to sit down with my men and talk aabout the options in a pragmatic way free from emotion. Having said that, I will attempt to to taht about the 08 elections. With the Republican retirements in the house and Senate, it is shaping up to what could be a “bullet proof” democratic congress (i.e. 60 votes counting a couple of Rino’s in the Senate). If they have a Democrat President, “Katy bar the door”. If they have a Republican President, they than have to get two thirds votes in both houses to overide a veto. I say and Republican and I will say again “ANY REPUBLICAN” would be better than any Democrat. At least when Bill Clinton was President, we had a Republican Congress to temper him. If we let a Democrat in the White House with a heavy Democrat majority in the Congress, the shape of this nation may take a radical change that we all will regret for decades to come. We are still living with “The War on Poverty” and other Johnson initiatives decades afterwards and that was done with a Democrat President and a Democrat Congress. Do we really want that again? Fight as you must before the primaries, but after the nominee is decided, you had all better think seriously about sitting out the General Election or having a throw away third party candidate and the consequences of those decisions. What I loved about the military,is we were always able to enforce pragmatism over emotion. Can’t do it here, but I would hope everybody listen.

He’ll be leading all four comfortably in the polls by the first week in October. He’ll win all four primaries.

Yeah, Fred didn’t jump out in front like I expected. He didn’t drop like a stone like you predicted either.

Shall I go find your quotes that said he would? I’d prefer not to waste my time, but I know they’re there.

Post the RCP average all you want. It doesn’t make any difference, nor does it refute a word of what I posted.

Actually I said Fred peaked in a post on 9/20, the polls prove it.

You claimed Thompson would be leading all 4 and win the early primaries. He’s not leading all 4, we’ll see about primary time.

Well, since you’re so interested in gay little ‘gotcha’ games, I’ll state that I’ve since revised my prediction in the primaries. I believe he’ll take 3 of the 4. Rudy will take NH.

Has anybody seen those ads showing Romney speaking when he was running for first Senate and then Governor of Mass.

Lots of Schadenfreude in those ads from the Log Cabin Republicans, doing their best to whack Mitt by running ads which would be positive for him IF HE WAS STILL RUNNING IN MASSACHUSETTS! LOL!!

Your wise observations should be posted and reposted. Republicans MUST stick together to defeat Hillary. We cannot all be running around singing the praises of our personal pet rocks. It is time for the Wannabees - Hunter, Huckabee, Tancredo, Paul, etc, and even McCain to withdraw from this race. Time to a let the front runners have the spotlight. Deciding between the top 3 - 4 will be hard - but whomever we pick -we all have to get in there and back the Republican. We can beat Mrs. Clinton TOGETHER. Like Lincoln said.....Divided we fall.
