One of the fun parts of being the host network of the debate is finding out first who the campaigns are lining up to spin for them post-debate.

The campaign with the most interesting spinners on their team for tomorrow's CNBC/MSNBC/WSJ debate: Fred Thompson. His campaign has requested Spin Room credentials for one-time presidential hopeful/former Virginia Sen. George Allen as well as Liz Cheney, daughter of VP Cheney.

Isn’t that an oxymoron? The left attacking a gay or lesbian?

I remember when Mary Cheney’s book came out. I peaked at DU to see what their take was on it. You would not believe the hatred they had for her, mainly because of who her parents were. I think the left is being consistent. They hate.

correct yo are, they hate. But I think ven the DU is more irrational that even the mainstream far left. Maybe it’s jut me, but I would think a Nancy Pelosi would even be shocked by comments on the DU.

So when Bush’s candidacy barely scraped together a few hundred votes to win the electoral college and lost the popular vote by a nice margin, his candidacy was a bust? because as i recall four years later he comes back and adds to his electoral margins and easily takes the popular vote.

Whoever said Allen ran a great campaign in 2006? I think in many posts even while the campaign was happening I said it wasn’t a good campaign.

which was a surprise because he not only WON his election as Senator but as Governor of that state. An historical fact you seem to dismiss, I presume, because you want to write him off as, I guess, an Alan keyes type of failure.

He won state wide elections in A SWING state when clinton was President. virginia is not exactly utah, no matter how hard you try to paint it as such. The state hasn’t elected TWO successive Democrat Governors because it’s this great vast Bush country.

Guess what? Bad campaigns happen. His record up to this point as a candidate still swings in his favor. When he loses more then he wins, or at least achieves a 50/50 split then you can call him a bust and have a leg to stand on.

As for the latter, I am glad you place such a premium on a NYT’s article.

I have the feeling you think you’ve scored some kind of hit, not sure what though. Thompson is lazy, clueless and blah blah blah. Get new material. Until then, don’t waste my time.

Would MSNBC write a headline like this for a Democrat?

Change Of Plans; Cheney, Allen Will Not Spin For Thompson
From NBC's Chuck Todd
DEARBORN, Mich. -- Quick update from the Thompson campaign. It turns out that both Liz Cheney and George Allen will now NOT be coming to Dearborn to spin for Thompson after tomorrow night's debate. The campaign had initially planned to have both here but scheduling conflicts prevented both from coming.

It is pretty sad that you see the need to run down others to attempt to prop up your own candidate's failed campaign. He doesn't even register in the latest polls, LOL!

Organization is huge and so is selling yourself—for ANY executive positoin. Thompson simply doesn’t have it. That he had all of these months to put together a platform and only has this to show for it is just further evidence that he’s pulling things together.

Thompson’s biggest liability was the belief that he might not have the fire in this belly. So what does he do? He waited months on end to announce his candidacy, shuffled around his staff endlessly (including bringing on Spencer Abraham!), and launched his campaign on an incoherent message utterly lacking in substance or detail.

On top of that, he’s bumbled around and managed to anger the social conservatives who supported him as he looked at running.

I don't need to score a hit with you. The article referenced was a straight-up witness to how the two run their IA events. You can watch them on Youtube or CSPAN if you have any doubts.

Allen lost because he was arrogant and the people running his campaign were morons. It's not really a swing state, it's a state that punishes incompetence. Notice that while they elected a D governor in 05, they elected two far right conservatives to L-gov and AG. Why? The R nominee was an idiot.

Ditto. FDT needs a nap. He has no qualifications or qualities to be prez. If elected he would have less leadership experience than any president in the History of the Republic.

Mary Matalin is embarassing herself going out and defending him.
